I worked.

A lot. And that pretty much covers it. 7:30 AM - 11:00 PM. Pretty lame if you ask me. My little brother (he's 17, I guess I should get over calling him little, but old habits die hard) plays in the Colonial Williamsburg Fife & Drum Corps, and I missed seeing him play, which is a shame, because the fourth is usually the only time I get to see them. Oh well. Better luck next year I suppose.

I worked too. Then, i rented another damn movie and watched it along with real world. Oh im so sociable! I should have gone to the little family get together down the street, but i would have been the only one my age there

I wrote a paper about Robert Frost for my Poetry class and was reminded over and over how much summer classes suck. For a while, I was at home, but listening to my parents and sister talk about going to fireworks (without me) and then going to the beach for four days (without me) was enough to make me head back to my apartment at 2:30 in the afternoon. I got dinner at a McDonald's where no one spoke English except me and one employee, and then I worked on the paper and watched TV and talked on the phone for the rest of the evening. It wasn't too bad.

Still, I resent my Poetry professor for assigning the paper over the holiday weekend. Then again, he's British, so I guess he was getting his revenge.

Call me unpatriotic, but I detest 4th of July. I know I know it's when we got our independence (blah blah blah) but it still is one of my least favorite holidays...the other being Thanksgiving. It pretty much gives an excuse for right wing wackos to celebrate their "pure american-ness" by lighting off explosives. But I digress.

For my 4th, my friend and I rented some Jerry Springer videos. Then we wanted to go to Nickel Nickel (blush). Hey, I love that arcade okay? But anyway it was closed so we just watched more tv. Full of rip-roaring excitement there.

I went in to DC with my mom, dad, and friend, Lauren. Lauren and I walked across memorial Bridge and near the war memorials and wandered through the city for awhile and then sat on the VA side of the Potomac and watched the foreworks over the Washington Monument..it sounds really cool now but living near DC takes away the excitement of DC. We tried to be touristy and like it was a brand new experience but it wasn't too succesful of an adventure. Oh well, I still love the city.

The soundtrack to my Fourth of July was my neighbors setting off fireworks - it sounded something like this: low murmuring, huge bang snap crackle whatever the hell noise it is firecrackers make, then loud cheering and whistling. I'm not sure why it is that I never do a damn thing for the fourth, but I seem to consistently sit on my ass at home. And it sucks because even sitting at home you can't escape it, the only thing on TV is televised fireworks.

Went boating/tubing.

After that excursion, we went down to the Au Sable river and watched the fireworks over the water.

I'm a little late with this, but I'm still going to answer. 4th of July is a pretty big deal around here (Plymouth Mass). I caught the 5:00 showing of The Patriot. After that I went down to the waterfront with some friends and a zillion tourists to see the fireworks. We sat on the rocks along the edge of the harbor, right in front of Plymouth Rock (how patriotic). Nothing too exciting, but it was kind of fun.
