If not Beach Camera, then who?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I've had several responses about the quality of Beach Camera as a retailer for phone orders of cameras. The consensus is quite negative. So, who would be dependable? I'm interested in a Olympus C2020ZOOM and want to pay the best price without dealing with some one unreputable. Thanks, John

I have used B&H and Adorama extensively, and have never had a problem. I have heard good things on the net about Camera World of Oregon as well. Most people also have positive things to say about KEH, and they sell new euipment now, at prices that are more or less identical to, and sometimes lower than B&H and Adorama.

B&H (www.bhphotovideo.com) or Camera World of Oregon or Adorama. All have good prices and tend to good service (but everyone does mess up occasionally).

Calumet is also very nice to deal with, but thier prices tend to not be as good as the others.

I agree with the last post. Lately I've been finding that Adorama has the best prices on their web site but if you call Cameraworld you can get a better price than their website quotes.

I concur wholeheartedly with the reccommendation of B&H-- I finally gave up trying to save small amounts with other dealers because of the constant problems. B&H has yet to let me down in any way.

I agree with all of the posts above. I tend to deal with local stores when I can. I am lucky enough to live near Philadelphia which has a number of good dealers, and I get to NYC several times a year. B&H is alway a stop when I am in the city.

John,

I'm sorry but this has very little to do with Camera Equipment. You should look in the "Neighbor to Neighbor" section, not here. It really isn't that hard to find the appropriate places for such questions. Don't be so careless. No one in their right mind would search in the "Camera Equipment" forum to find out what mail order company to use (or not use). Let's not be so sloppy next time, okay?

Helpful hint: Always search photo net before asking a question. For a helpful article go here 'http://www.photo.net/photo/where-to- buy'. I am sure there was also a page containing the purchase experiences of hundreds of people. Sadly I can no longer find it. I can testify that B&H is a good store with quick and honest service. Be careful as some shops appear to be crooked.

I use only two mail order stores. B&H, or Camera World of Oregon. In 8 years I have never had a problem with either store.

You don't want to deal with the below company. Believe me, they are nothing but liars.. they hang up on customers and say they have merchandise when they really in fact DONT!!!
