Has anyone used this firewire capture card yet? I understand that it can output to MPEG-1. I assume that this solves the problem of 2 gig limit for AVIs. Please let me know if that's not the case. Is the MPEG output compliant with VCDs? Basically I want to be able to capture an entire DV tape from my camcorder, output it to a MPEG file on my hard drive and then make a VCD out of it. I hope it can accomplish this. Thanks again to all who read this and/or respond. I really appreciate all your help.

I'm using the card now. For what I know, capturing is still limited to 4Gb which is in fact the limit of the FAT32 file system of Win98. But you can capture individual clips of a maximum length of about 18 minutes, join them and add a transition may be, and output them to a single MPEG-1 file. Personally I don't do the encoding with the Studio DV software because of the low quality of the output MPEG-1 file. You may try using other encoders which give much better result, like PWI, TMPEG...

Hi, i'm using this video card and i'd the same problem, but the right way to solve it is to download in more then one title and create the final movie. the system allows you to download for all the space you have on your hard drive.
