Cup Final

21 August 1996, Wimbledon at SJP, Big Al's hyem debut....and he scored didn't he? Never really in doubt was it? It was actually Batty who began the scoring after a Shearer effort was charged down and the ball broke back to Batty near the centre circle who chipped Sullivan rather sublimely as it happens. That was the third minute, and we weren't to score again until the third last when Shearer curled a freekick into the top right hand corner from left of the goal - luverly! And yea verily did the Geordies go apeshit in the stands :-)
Points
Srnicek 6
Watson 2
Elliott 2
Howey 2
Albert 1 (booked - 'Oh ref, he went for the ball!' Etc)
Lee 2
Asprilla 2
Clark 1 (sub)
Batty 5 (goal)
Ginola 2
Shearer 4 (goal)
Ferdinand 2

There it is folks, Barton's Samba lift the BBSCLFA Cup in its traditional black and white ribbons, and they take their place in front of the Kingston Park snow plough for their victory celebration. Congratulations to all those who took part, particulalry MinesaS&N Academicals for getting to the Final and buggering it all up at the last hurdle; we love you anyway.

Nowt left in the league but the Division 1 playoff final tomorrow...

Well done to Barton's Samba.....a good crowd to take my trophy away, but watch out.....if it all goes to form you will also be relegated at the end of next season!

Well done.... The Racers were beaten by the eventual winners in that 4-3 classic in round 2.... what might have been.....

The lad's are over the moon. Condolences to them, they must be as sick as parrots. A one sided game with both teams having lots of chances. A game of two halves, end to end stuff. Jumpers for goalposts... Well chuffed, now to have another look at those season ticket prices!
