There are people I admire, There are things that I like and wish I had - - - - - I try to prevent myself from envy because it is a damn useless waste of time and mentality.

What could someone envy me for ? Having such a great family.

I'm kind of with Doug in one respect. I'm pretty content with what I have and don't envy what others have. Oh sure, I could find something to do with "things" if I had more, but I like to live by the notion that "Happiness is wanting what you have." But then I have to go along with Al when he says "I envy people who have never lost a child." Yes, if there is one thing I would envy it would be the ability to keep all your children...Still, the flip side of that is having had a great relationship with the kids for 24 and 30 years, respectively. How can I be sad at that?

As for what others would envy about me? I would hope it would be, as Doug says, our great family and what a close relationship we have.

I envy people with money. I'd like to be a millionaire as well, people with a high metabolism too. People would definately envy me for my awesome relationship with my husband and my great kids, also my organizational skills, I can pretty easily manuver having five kids in the same ways others manage one, usually better (not vain, just fortunate).

I make a conscious effort not to envy anyone, and it usually works. I've learned not to envy people with money. My husbands relatives are doctors, engineers, etc. Knowing them has taught me that they are not necessarily any happier than the people I know who spend their lives in trailer parks. And they aren't better parents for their money either. I used to envy people in college who had an apartment, a car, and no job. I didn't envy their money so much as their free time and their lack of responsibilities. Others could envy me for how well my husband treats me, there was never a better partner or friend. Hey Al, have a great anniversary!

Oh, I could name a buttload of people or things I'm envious of, but I'll not waste your time with that. I mean, who wouldn't want to be rich?

No, I think I'm most envious of people that aren't envious. I wish I didn't wish for things I can't have.
