'standard compliant' formatgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread |
I have some music videos that I am trying to put onto a vcd, and Nero says some are not standard compliant. What does this mean? If it will not work as a vcd as is, how do I go about changing it so that it will work on a vcd? Thanks for any help you may have.

I tried Nero once and got the same mesaage on files that are compliant with NTI's software and Adaptec's. One way around that is to click on the box that says something like Use file anyway.

Take note about what else Nero says when it declares your files non- VCD compliant. The information there will dictate whether or not you can go on and create the VCD anyway and have any level of success playing it on a set-top later. For example, for files created with Panasonic using its VCD template Nero always declares these as non- VCD compliant. On closer inspection you might note that the only form of VCD audio Nero recognizes as okay is stereo but Panasonic encodes and identifies the audio on its files as ch1/ch2, which is the type used for karaoke VCDs. You know this is trivial and can go on to create the VCD anyway because it will ultimately play properly on a set-top later. But if, for instance, Nero says it detects that the video bitrate is 3000Kb/s, with this kind of file chances are the VCD that will be created should you go on will not be playable on standard VCD/DVD set-top without a hitch. The idea is to know exactly what VCD filespec should be and compare what Nero says with them and then judge from your comparison whether or not you will go ahead with VCD creation.

EMartinez hiThe last version of the "old" Nero 4.9.01 I think, has not reported that my Panasonic encodes are non compliant as other versions did, maybe something has been changed in that updated version because nothing has changed in my methods of encoding.
It still takes time to check the file before it puts it into the window.
I do not run version 5 so I cannot comment on what that does.
