Calvin and Hobbes and the Far Side. The Far Side because Gary Larson was brilliant enough to create something hilarious or thought provoking in one frame. Calvin and Hobbes because no comic I can think is so good at creating an entire world through a little kid's eyes and also addressing serious subjects without being maudlin. all the good ones are gone. *sigh*

I'm pretty fond of Cathy.. and the Far Side as well. Although.. I don't really get into Comics or Comic Strips, those I look at if I happen to stumble across them.

Calvin and Hobbes, definately. Thats how childhood is supposed to be, entire dimensions can be built through a child's fantasies. Foxtrot would probobly be next on my list. Nerdy Jason reminds me of myself as a kid.

Geez Al - it is very hard to list all the strips that have been my favorites from 1926 on up. My favorite in recent years was Walt Kelly's "Pogo," that savvy swamp possum. It could be read on about four different levels. Today, jeepers - there are several favorites - for different reasons. "Baby Blues" (been there - done that) - - A one panel "Pluggers" (a plugger knows that duct tape fixes everything) "Pickles" and "Crankshaft" (I am reflected in both) "Geech" (Small Town 'rube-ry and stupidity on the comic side.) Favorite comics for me are like my favorite coffee cups - - I have about - twenty five - very favorite ones, the others are stored (in reserve).

I'm more into comic books than newspaper type strips. But of the last, I must admit that my favorite is one that I can only read on the Net, because it is not translated to Norwegian yet. It is "Second Chances", and I read it on http://www.msnbc.com/comics/ which is my one stop comic strips resource on the Net. I also like Foxtrot, but not quite as much. Second Chances is just my type of humor/observation, warm cynicism. (Not that I endorse their life choices. I just like to read it.) As for past strips: Calvin & Hobbes, and the old Peanuts.

First, I'd like to say that Garfield (whihc used to be OK), The Family Circus (jokes without punchlines), and Mary Worth (comics for the elderly) all suck ass.
