Printing b+w negs on color paper... HELP!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo: Alternative Process : One Thread

Hello,

I am trying to get an overall color cast when printing a black and white neg onto color paper. The color i am having the most time getting is blue.

What settings do i set the color head at to get the print to go blue? And for that matter, how about red and green. I know that exact numbers can not be specified, but does anyone know any ballpark figures?

Thanks.

Greetings,

There are many people more versed in color printing than I, but you're asking this question in the wrong forum. Try increasing your magenta filtration to increase blue in the print.

In color negative printing, your using 2 of the three channels. Magenta and Yellow. First off, when printing B/W negs on color paper you need a negative (blank but developed) to provide the ogange mask that color paper needs. Just sandwich this with your B/W neg. To remove blue you use the yellow channel. Adding to the head will result in a more blue look. Subtracting will be a more yellow print. The magenta channel regulates green and magenta and the equal combination of both channels, regulates cyan and red. A starting out point might be to set your enlarger up to 100Y and 70M and make a test print to see where you stand. Cheers, Scott
