I was just in Tucson and love it there! Have any of you been? Where? What did you see?

Hi Brandy! Nope, haven't been to Death Valley yet. Only Tucson, Phoenix, and Sedona. I liked Sedona pretty well, the rocks were so lovely....Tuscon, where my parents are, is so pretty too. I want to visit my aunt's house, an hour away at 5k feet, a real well done strawbale house....but I have yet to have the time to get there.

Brandy, I keep forgetting to tell you, that was one of the three names my parents had thought of to call me, Brandy is. =)

Hi Luny!

I lived in a town called Lake Havasu when I was 5. It was/is a small town about an hour or so from Needles. One of the few highlights of the town is that the original London Bridge is there. I think back when the founder had created the town, he thought it might be a good idea to have a gimmick, so he bought the bridge and they brought it over piece by piece. Kinda neat. Havasu is pretty popular jet ski wise.. a lake in the middle of desert, gotta love that.

Tucson, I may have been there when I was younger, but haven't been lately. Currently, Mark and I have been driving on the old Route 66 sections that run through Arizona. This past March we drove through a section near Flagstaff and found a staircase built into the side of a cliff. The stairs led up to a handmade fish bowl/fountain (about the size of a generous sink) fed by a mountain stream, amazing! We've seen quite a few motorcyclists running the route.. if you love Tucson/Arizona.. it'd be a great trip.

=) Ok, that's my plug for Arizona =) If you can't tell, I love the state emmensely. Also, the area near the Hoover Dam on both the Nevada and Arizona border is beautiful. (gush gush gush)

Why yes, I've lived in Arizona nearly my whole life. I love the mysterious desert beauty of this state. If you get the chance, try to visit Sedona: it is wonderful there. :)

Three hours ago my plane touched down at Phoenix Sky Harbor. A half second after that the engines revved and we took off again. The pilot, she called it a "missed approach" -- another plane was on the runway and we were about to crash into it. We circled for fifteen minutes and landed again, safely. Unfortunately I didn't see much of Arizona aside from an airport bar where I calmed my nerves for a half hour before catching my next flight back to LA.

It was 1978. My friend and I had driven from the East Coast to Seattle, down to San Francisco and Carmel and there we turned Southeast. The day I first touched Arizona, we had just crossed Death Valley, zipped through Las Vegas, and over Hoover Dam. It was hot. It was August. We had a fight about the air-conditioning, so we drove through Death Valley with the windows down. I got dehydrated. He fell asleep. There was a sandstorm outside Kingman, AZ around dusk, so I pulled into a motel to get a room. He was still asleep and woke up angry and said someone should beat the shit out of me. So, he tried to do that. I didn't really understand his beef, so I just let him body-punch me until he was tired. Then I went into my room and took a bath. The next day, we went to the Grand Canyon and then drove on to Winslow, AZ. We were out of money by then, so we drove for 32 hours straight from Winslow to Atlanta, Georgia.

Arizona rules. We drove around Cochise County last August/September looking at land and stayed in Tucson over the Y2K new year. Cool things: Kitt Peak, a sci-fi movie set in the middle of a reservation; Bisbee, home to hippies and miner-types (stay at the Inn at Castle Rock!); Arizona Cactus Research, roadrunners, capybaras, Cochise Stronghold, the Willcox Playa, more saguaros than you can count.
