Hi there, can anyone help me

I am trying to copy an original VCD movie on to a CD-R using Direct CD and Easy CD creator but my Apex DVD only plays the original, what can it be?, my Apex plays my MP3 files from the CD-R , can the original VCD be encoded ? Im new to this so please excuse my ignorance.

You may want to try another program more adept at copying cd's. CDRwin, clonecd, fireburner...

Apex's should be able to read them NP. Have you tried playing back the mpegav/*.dat files through mediaplayer. If that dosn't work then the copy is fubared, and you should try and find some real copying software. Beware, ezcd is know not to play well with other cd burning software esp when DirectCD is installed.

your problem is direct cd. You cannot make a vcd using direct cd. you would have to do an "image copy" of the cd (from vcd to your harddrive) then take this image and reburn to cd and then it will do it. Using direct cd will make your vcd either a 'data cd' if you "close" the direct cd so you cant write on it anymore, or idf you are not closing the cd this is why as well. the cd has to be closed. try to use a ral vcd burning program of somekind, or if you can as i said, you have to do a cd image copy of somekind.

Hmmm, direct CD is supposed to be a way for you to use your CD-RW/CD- R as a virtual hard disk, is it not? So i am assuming that you just drag and drop the *.dat from the MpegAV directory into the CD-R or maybe the whole contents of the VCD into the CD-R right? I am also assuming that you don't have the deluxe version either right? so the VCD option is not available for you to use right? If all the questions above is correct, then this is why the APEX failed to recognize your copied VCD disc. Try the disc to disc copy option in EZ CD Creator to copy your original VCD to the CD-R. It'll work.

Copy the original VCD with CdCopier - if you have ECDC 4.x, use "Track at once" mode. VCD copied in DAO mode has shown some recognizing problem in standalone players. Track at once copy works all the times. You can't use DCD for copy a VCD, it would write the disc in a unrecognizable format for any VCD player. JLP

An answer to -- lnguyen (wingstarzz@hotmail.com), May 08, 2000 You r absolutely correct m8 but Diect CD has to Format the CD-RW in a new format to be able to do the staf you describe. You also loose a few megs of CD space. So i guess that is the problem of your Apex or the software that reads the CD-r through the Apex.
