Has anyone ever told you - you look just like....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Squishy : One Thread

Are you ever told you look like someone famous (or not so famous)? Does your significant other resemble someone on the big screen?

My boyfriend looks just like the guy on 90210 (sorry) who dated Donna and who is now dating that alcoholic girl - sorry I don't even know his character's name. My boy also looks a LOT like Elvis :) Me - on the other hand: I've been told I have Kim Bassinger's face (ok holiday, I know I spelled that wrong) - dont I WISH I was told I had her body, though!

Anyway, I'm sure there are lots of famous faces that resemble you and your loved ones. I'm curious to hear about it!

I've been blessed with the privilage of looking like Rowan Atkinson's Mr. Bean. At least, I may have done.

The thing is, most people I know say I look nothing like the guy, yet I still get complete strangers mentioning it! Personally, I don't see it myself, but then, I would say that...

I get alot of "you look like Willow on Buffy", and once or twice "that redhaired girl on Cybill."

-- Anonymous, May 05, 2000

I've been told that I look like Katie Holmes, but since I do not see her appeal, I choose to ignore these comments. I think Katie looks like a chubby-cheeked, rosy 12 year old.

It's always either someone's third cousin (only the third, I don't know whatup with that), Winona Ryder (uh... okaaaayyy) and since I coloured my hair really dark - Elizabeth Hurley - another UH... YEAH OKAY for that one (and yeah, and I'll double up on the 'wish I had her body' deal!). But they only say that last one when commenting on photographs of me - no one ever says it just looking at my face - they're like "Oh in that picture you look like that English Guys girlfriend!" I personally don't see it even a little bit, but it's very sweet of people to say. Usually makes my day - even if I am laughing at them.

When I was younger I always always always got Sarah Jessica Parker. Until college.

Then I started getting mistaken for Patricia Arquette. Back when she was doing true romance. in Flirting with Disaster it's almost scary.

Bizarre come-on pick-up comparisons have included Julia Roberts and Kim Basinger. And I'm pretty sure Jeff'll tell you that shit just ain't true at all.

But Patricia Arquette. All the friggin' time. And Fiona Apple. Her face, not her clavicle.

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2000

This is easy, I get Stephen Paige (sp?), lead singer from Bare Naked Ladies a LOT.

So yeah. I look like a bare naked lady.

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2000

Pamie, I have ALWAYS thought you looked like Sarah Jessica Parker or Fiona. Especially Fiona.

I always hear Jodie Foster, except no one knows her name, so I get, "You know, you look just like that girl from Silence of the Lambs."

I also hear that I look like Madchen Amick, that chick from Twin Peaks and Sleepwalkers. Sorta kinda, but not really.

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2000

I am said to look like drew barrymore when she has brown hair, but I just didn't see the similarity.

most would say it more often when I was little and she was in ET...I guess soo....

I don't really think I resemble anyone else that I've been told. it's always drew.

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2000

Pamie, that picture of you dressed as Patricia Arquette in True Romance is a dead cert, so I can see how you get that.

When I was youngerI looked like Molly Ringwald, and I still do a bit (from when she was in Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club). My ex- manager had the best comparison though - he watched 'Bugsy Malone' with his kids one weekend and came to work telling me I was a dead ringer for Blousy Brown. When I was younger I definitely was, though I'm glad to report I've lost those chubby cheeks now!

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2000

With hair, I got either Noah Wiley or a young Billy Crystal (even from my mom). Now that I shaved my head I'm getting a lot of Billy Zane. Thank goodness it's not Billy Barty.

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2000

Old people keep telling me that I look like Pavarotti. I tell them to get their eyes checked. Everybody that's overweight and has a full beard is supposed to look like Pavarotti. That's a little like telling all black people that they look like Michael Jordan.

Actually, if all truth be told, I do bear a slight resemblance to Paul Prudhome, the Cajun Chef, but don't tell the old folks that.

Sometimes, when people get pushy and won't let up...and you know how some people get, I tell them they look like Irene Ryan or Rock Hudson. "But (Irene Ryan or Rock Hudson) are dead."

I know.

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2000

I've been told not only do I look like Jodie Foster, but I sound like her too.

At first I'm always, "Oh, thanks!"

Then I stop and think, "hey wait, doesn't she have that weird lisp thing going on?"

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2000

I look a lot like a younger Kate Mulgrew (Capt Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager). It was a lot more pronounced when she had long hair in bun on the show and before I had bangs. When I wore my hair up, people were constantly telling me I "look just like that new Star Trek captain." If only I was that thin.

I evidently look like a lot of other people, too, because I get "You look just like my best friend from college" a lot, too. Wonder if Kate does?

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2000

When I was younger it was Tawny Kitaen. She was/is married to some heavy metal band member. Whitesnake I think. She was in one of their videos, rolling around the hood of some hot rod.

Now I am told I look like Ann Margaret. Does that mean I aged gracefully or that I just aged?

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2000

The only person I've ever been told I resemble is Rosie O'Donnell. I know. I know. But it's been happening for over ten years--and for awhile there, it happened at least once a week. ONCE A WEEK I was told I look like Rosie O'Donnell! Jeeeezus! Now when people say, "You know who you look like?" I say, "Yes." and hope they shut up.

No New York accent, Amy

PS: There's pictures of me on my web page in the wedding section--I'm sure you all will disagree. www.parsley.org

carmen.

there is nothing wrong with looking like ann-margret. that rules.

and andy very much looks like noah wylie when he's got hair. it's freaky.

for about one week people went around saying that eric looked like garth brooks. i'm glad that all stopped. and then there was the week where someone said he looked like john malkovich, and i kept catching eric making scary faces at himself in the mirror. luckily that fervor died down as well.

Everyone says I look just like bjork. I just smile a bjorky smile because I love her and that's one of the nicest things I ever hear. The first time my boyfriend came to my house, he was confused by the pictures of Bjork on my wall because he thought they were me, and I had some strange issues with narcissism or something. And the strange thing is, just as I was typing this, my roommate was telling me about a friend of hers who had been in this afternoon, looked at my Bjork poster and thought it was me. It's everywhere, I am she!

My mother says I look like Bob Saget; my father says I look like Bronson Pinchot. I don't think I look like either of them.

I have been told I look like Robin Williams and Richard Dreyfuss

Casey, we must be twins!

-- Anonymous, May 07, 2000

Oh man. There's a bunch. Normally I look like a friend from college or a distant relative...not a bad thing...in addition I've been told I look like Janeane Garofalo, Alanis Morrisette, Lisa Loeb, and Mira Sorvino (I have NO idea how she fell into the pile). I actually had a webpage up with an open letter to Janeane about how one day I hoped some stranger approached her on the street and started telling her how much she looked like me. Ahh, a girl can dream.

-- Anonymous, May 07, 2000

in my high school senior portraits, i look exactly like sigourney weaver. but i never did before and i haven't since. i think it was the "working girl" hair style.

-- Anonymous, May 07, 2000

In the 80's everyone said I looked like Valerie Bertinelli, even my Grandmother, only when she said it, it was FAR from a compliment. Later on, I was told I resembled Shannon Dougherty in Heathers. Now that Shannon weighs about 90 pounds, I don't look a thing like her. I just look like me now. There are no celebrities out there brave enough to look this bad. Or if there are, they sure aren't getting any parts!

-- Anonymous, May 07, 2000

Neve Campbell.

But only with certain camera angles.

As for my fiance... Chris Jericho (from the WWF).

Only without the long hair, and with a little more chin.

Tommy Scott (aka Tom Everett Scott) and I used to be in the same theater company in Rhode Island, although he is a good five or six years older than me. People would always comment that we looked alike, and he, I, and this guy Dave Richardson would often get cast as cousins, brothers, older/younger versions of each other and the like.

However, that was when I was sixteen. Every once in a while I see Tommy's face on a preview or a video box (I keep meaning to see his movies, but they all look so... lame... Dead Man On Campus, American Werewold in Paris, etc) and he looks *exactly* the same. Meanwhile, I have gone from being thirty pounds underweight to being thirty pounds overweight.. which doesn't show *too* badly cuz I am 6'4" and it all evens out, but my cheeks somehow widened since I was a teenager (can that happen??) and my face "filled out." For a while I was getting "you look like Adam Sandler" or "You look like that guy from Friends." I never thought I looked too much like either of them, but others did. The main similarity I can see is that we all have the same hair.

I haven't even gotten either of those lately, nor do I even get the "you remind me of my third cousin" thing that I used to get. Actually, it was more like I would meet two girls at camp or something when I was a kid and they would giggle to each other about how I reminded them of someone they knew from their hometown, then laugh.

That was a boost to the old ego.

When I was young, I looked exactly like Alyssa Milano (in her Who's the Boss days). I even lost my teeth the same way she did. We both looked like rabbits. Anyway, during the time of bad teeth, people use to approach me all the time and ask for my autograph. A lady got so irritated because she refused to believe I WAS NOT Alyssa.

Last February I was in Vegas. Britney Spears was in Vegas. I had cut my hair blunt bob and gone very blond. I was walking through the casino and this group of teens started screaming "BRITNEY!". I was insulted. I couldn't figure it out. I DO NOT look like her. I don't. I guess she was coming to or in Vegas at the time and the billboard and advertising showed her with a very blond, short, blunt cut. We did kind of look the same. I really hate to admit that.

Carmen: I would love to be told I look like Ann Margaret.

Amy: I can't decide if you look like Rosie or not, but I so love your wedding pictures.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

Mia, if that's true, I'll be waiting for the day someone turns to me and says,

"You know, you look JUST LIKE my friend, Mia..."

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

People tell me I look like Jodie Foster all the time. I have also heard Lesley Gore (she of "It's My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To" fame - and I've only heard this from gay men,so I guess she must be some sort of icon) and Carolyn Bessette, the now deceased wife of JFK Jr.

I am often told by people that I look "exactly like (fill in the blank)" their cousin/sister/friend/coworker. I guess I just have one of those familiar looking faces.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

I have had some really weird ones over the years, mostly in college (which was many moons ago, as you'll be able to tell from my "lookalikes"), when I was younger and thinner, and still a blonde. I haven't gotten any comparisons lately, which is good, I GUESS...

The most bizarre has got to be Louise Fletcher (Nurse Ratched from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"). I thought that wasn't very nice! She is, however, a very, um, handsome woman, so I tried not to be offended. Others over the years have included Kathleen Turner (this was in the early- to mid-'80s, remember!), Loretta Swit, Jessica Lange, and Taylor Miller (who played Nina on "All My Children"). I don't think I ever looked like any of them, but there is no accounting for what likenesses people see in you, I guess!

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

Him: "You look like the lovechild of Alanis Morrisette and Anthony Kiedis."

Me: "Why, thank you!"

I'm quite certain that I should probably be alarmed by this. I keep consoling myself by repeating internally, "It's the hair! By God, it must be the hair." (Sob.)

words diminish

I've been told I look like Paula Cole. I've also gotten that I look like Paula Pounstone (what is it with the Paulas?!!) I don't think I look like either of them.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

I've been told A LOT that I look like Jennifer Jason Leigh. So much that I'm embarassed to see movies with her in them, 'cause someone ALWAYS makes a comment) In some movies, that's a compliment (Single White Female after she started looking better), and in most movies, it's kinda insulting (Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Dolores Claiborne). I have blonde hair, though. It could be worse.

That said, I've also gotten:

Renee Zellweger (get this one a lot - I think it's the hair) Helen Hunt (although my friend Pam is a MAJOR cross between her and Drew Barrymore) Jewel ('cept I have way better teeth) Robin Wright Penn in her Princess Bride days (HA! I wish)

anyway, if you stick Renee Zellweger's hair (in Jerry Maguire) on Jennifer Jason Leigh's face, you have me.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

Billy Corgan but with hair. It was cool at first because I would walk into this 7-11 by my house and this really good looking clerk who always had a million of her girlfriends in there chatting with her would always say, "Hey look, doesn't he look like Billy Corgan!" and all of them would say "Hey yeah!" and get all flirty and nice. Then he had to shave his head and put out his latest two albums...now no one gets flirty when I walk into 7-11's. Damn you Billy.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

Disclaimer -- this happened before most of you were born.

I look like Annette O'Toole, or I did when my hair was long. She was in One on One (with Robby Benson), and that summer (okay, it was 1977 or so), people came up to me all the time, "Are you the girl in One on One?" I was fifteen at the time...

I never saw that movie, but I finally saw her in an HBO special about 6 years later, and it was creepy -- like watching myself walking around onscreen. I couldn't pull myself away.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

i used to get "you look like a blond kellie martin", from her "life goes on" days, when i was about 12 and wore the same glasses and had a similar haircut. now i get a young meg ryan, sometimes, "but different." but not very often. people don't often equate me with celebrities, the only one i get consistently is grace kelly, which i will DEFINATLY take as a compliment, the woman was gorgeous. :)

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

I always get that I look like Farah, uhh Balzak?? The freaky chick from the Craft. I think that she was in the Waterboy too. I get Bif Naked sometimes too. I'm really not sure how to take these... I think they both look pretty scary and goth. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I just try to stay away from heavy black eyeliner. I have "crazy lady" eyes, so I try not to enforce it.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

I always look like someone's sister. I apparently have dopplegangers in San Francisco's Tenderloin district (where I lived for 2 1/2 years without seeing anyone who looked remotely like me), New York, Memphis, New Orleans and Austin. Everytime I went into a convenience store or a Popeye's chicken, it was, "Don't you have a brother named..." Also, I always am the sister of a brother, not another woman.

I really don't get that, as there are a lot of things about my appearance in particular that are pretty unique and any one of them is rare enough to see, let alone a lot of them at once. I have never met anyone who looked anything like me, although my brother and I have almost the same face.

Andy, I could definately see a little Noah Wylie in you (and no Billy Barty to speak of). Pamie and Patricia Arquette could be sisters, except she looks more like Patricia than her actual sister does.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

I get Drew Barrymore and Reese Witherspoon a lot, but usually from strangers. I recently dyed my hair red, so I don't get it as much now, but it still happens occasionally. One time, in a bar, a guy tried to pick me up by telling me I look like that girl from the birth control pills commercial, you know, the one where she wants to move to Paris...someday? First of all, I don't look anything like her, secondly, if you're going to try to pick someone up by playing the celebrity lookalike card, don't go with a birth control pills spokeswoman, ya know? Anyway, people always tell my roommate she looks like Ally Sheedy and she hates that.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

All my boyfriends seem to think that I look like various famous people. The guy I'm currently dating hit on me by telling me that I look like the lead singer of Sleater-Kinney. The one before that said I had a resemblance to Elisabeth Shue. And the boyfriend before that told me that I looked like Liv Tyler, but he blew it by phrasing it in an insulting way: "if you were taller and thinner, you'd look just like Liv Tyler!"

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

Mel - you mean Fairuza Balk. She was in Valmont, too, and that Wizard of Oz movie.

I get Meryl Streep a lot. I still don't know how I feel about that. I got Kate Winslet ALL the time after Titanic came out. Jeez. I wish I was half as good looking as she is, I wouldn't be toiling away in an office if I were.

I've also gotten Gillian Anderson a lot. That's because I have short red hair, I think. And part of the reason I got Kate Winslet all the time was because I had long red hair when the movie came out.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

I look like Drew Carey with my glasses on slightly...dammit.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

I'm an actress, and almost every time I do a show, I have an audience member approach me and ask "did anyone ever tell you that you look like Joan Cusak?" My reply is, naturally, "Yes. Oh, yes. As a matter of fact, yes." I get it constantly. Weekly. Apparently my gestures and style of speaking are similar as well. I LOVE Joan Cusak, so I rather like the comparison. The other one I get all the time, when my hair is down, is Linda Carter, Wonder Woman years. I've had strangers yell from across the street "WONDER WOMAN!!!" Which is good for a girls ego, I must tell you. Now if I can only get them to say "Princess Wonder Woman the All-Powerful"...

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

Mel, I hope no one has ever told you that you look like a balzac.

hee. (you may need to say that one out loud to get it)

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2000

I always get, "You look *exactly* like So-and-So's sister!!". I am Everyman's Sister, evidently. I get it all the time. But my favorite comparison is from my favorite ex-boyfriend, who says he thinks I am what would happen if Meg Ryan and Jeneane (sp?) Garafolo were spliced: quote - "cute, sweet, and ready to rip heads off at the first hint of caffeine withdrawal."

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

I used to get some "Drew Barrymore"s back in the day, but since I cut my hair, I now get a LOT more Kate Winslet comparisons (as she has also cut her hair very similarly). I think she's /lovely/, and I'm psyched that we have the same "roundish-but-with-cheekbones-blondish-but-with-dark-eyes" thing goin' on. I bless the day I got this haircut.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

Kelly McGillis. Spitting image. From strangers all the time. She did some kind of rape documentary on TV back in the 80's and my roommate couldn't watch it with me in the room. Freaked her out.

When I closed on my condo my lawyer kept calling me Kelly.

No, I don't mind one bit. But I wish she would resurrect her career so I could find a way to capitalize on it.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

I look like what would happen if Edie McClurg and Andy Richter mated.

*sigh*

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

when i was younger and had too much hair i was mistaken for that girl on "my two dads". now i get stangers coming up to me thinking i am their good friend jennifer, if i ever find this jennifer girl i am going to tell her that her friend are dumb/ blind and annoying.

i don't look like her, but i remind alot of people of anne heche.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

Kellie Martin.

When I was in high school, I always got "You look like Becca from Life Goes On!"

Now it's "You look like that chick from ER."

Great. My lifelong goal.

There was a girl in my journalism class who looked like Celine Dion. Poor girl. I thought I had it bad.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

I've gotten a variety of celebrities with whom I've been compared with.

Cameron Diaz is the most common, especially when I had my hair short and blonde, and plus that lovely Jack Nicholson smile (cough)

Drew Barrymore one or two times. People say I'm a dead ringer for Julia Roberts. I also got Claire Danes and Dharma off Dharma and Greg.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

I've been told that I look like a 'young' Madonna, though I am almost as old as her I think what they really mean is I look like Madonna when she first came out, which means I look like a slut?

I've also heard that I resemble Courtney Love. So then I look like a heroin addict? Damn.

My husband thinks I look like Ellen Barkin, with a nicer butt. He won't even admit that he looks just like Chris Webber (from the Sacramento Kings). My co-worker swears I'm a dead-ringer for Brittney Spears. Ei-ei-ei.

I look like me. Except when I don't get enough sleep. Then I look like Wilford Brimley.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

Marcia Brady. And no one ever knows her real name. It's always, "you know who you look like?". Yeah. Marcia Brady. They're like, "YES!". Like I haven't heard it a million times since I was in 5th grade.

I also look like everyone's sister/cousin/friend of the family. At least twice a week someone tells me I look familiar or remind them of someone. Total strangers, even. Cashiers and stuff. It's weird. Makes me feel very average and every-day looking.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

Damnit, i look like the evil Nazi in Indiana Jones who got his hand burned. That is what haunted me in grade school anyway. Then I looked like some guy who lived in the next city from where my parents live. Now I think I look like an Internet cracker.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

Ooh, I forgot about the "significant other" part of the question. My boyfriend looks just like a very young Marlon Brando ("Stella!") and a very young F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Sometimes, when he's sitting on the couch in a white t-shirt and jeans, I just start reciting lines from A Streetcar Named Desire.

I can't help it.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

I used to get Kellie Martin, too. Back in high school. It's because I'm short and have the same hair. But I don't think I can do her moony, Lifetime Movie, perpetual victim stare, though. Every time her eyes start to do that big, glossy basset hound thing, I just crack up.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

I have you all beat... Martina Navratilova

or when i was younger and had red glasses... Sally Jessie Rapheal

or when i cut my hair really short and bleach it... Susan Powder

Or lately, Some grrl from Houston.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

I've heard "James Woods" (in his younger days) most often. Also, Keith Gordon from 'Christine' once or twice. Yip yip yo.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

Uma Thurman. I also get Sarah Polley sometimes. It is blatantly untrue that I look like either one, as evidenced by my lack of piles of cash and hordes of fans eager to touch the very hem of my gown.

Apparently, if Uma and Sarah and I were sisters, I would be the middle sister (ala Jan Brady.)

Sometimes I torture my boyfriend by telling him he looks like John- Boy Walton. I don't even care that it's only slightly true...

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

The odd person or two has said I look like Lucy off the TV show Seventh Heaven.(don't know her real name other than her first name is beverly) I beg to differ since shes really gorgous *L* Some dude who servse me food in the cafeteria at university told me I look like emma from the spice girls..wel i think it was emma..i was "one of those girls in that group with teh pig tails) but i think it was just cause of the hair :) most of the time I get the line "you look like...umm...you look like..........you look like monica" Well isn't that just peacu keen considering thats who I am!

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

I've had Jodie Foster since high school. I even had the stalker, and it was around the time of Reagan getting shot. All of my friends would always ask me, "Jodie, Jodie, where's Hinkley hiding today?"

What's up with so many of us looking like Jodie?

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2000

Z- I had such a crush on Keith Gordon in "Christine" and "Legend of Billie Jean." So, don't feel bad.

James Woods, however...

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2000

Ooh, Kellie Martin - Me too! "Life Goes On" years. (The show I broke my arm to... anyone remember the circus or gymnast or whatever ep? Yeah... me, rolling atop a round foot rest. Crack! Embarassing, slightly. And I can still sing the theme.)

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2000

Neil Patrick Harris.

God help me.

You have no idea what it's like to walk into a room and have the girls squeal, "Oh my GOD, you look just like Doogie Howser!"

Why can't I look like George Clooney? Or Chris O'Donnell? Or Jerry O'Connell? I'll even settle for Leonardo DiCaprio or Nicholas Brendan. Just not Doogie.

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2000

Over the course of the years I've gotten Teri Hatcher (during her Lois & Clark days), Winona Ryder (when my hair was very short), Pat Benatar (when my hair was still very short), and Lisa Loeb (just a few weeks ago...my hair is finally growing out). An ex-boyfriend used to extoll my "elfen" qualities. He thought I looked like Bjork. "Elfen" qualities? Should I be making snack crackers in a tree somewhere?

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2000

I hear that I look like Jewel in pictures, but not in person. We both have those wide cheekbones that are very easily noticable.

As for the significant other, he's a little bit of Andy Dick and a little bit of that guy from Incubus.

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2000

in jr. high, i was insultingly referred to as "sandy duncan." it was the wheat thins days. (and my mother always made me get old lady haircuts.)

as of about 6 yrs ago, i've found that at my college i attended, and now at the one i work at, there are several doepplegaengers (no uml. on the keyboard, silly!) that i resemble.

it was really weird when i went to a random party a few years ago, and everyone was calling me "jennifer." then, as i said no, they would say- "but don't you work at blockbuster?" (which i did at the time, which made it really eerie.) there's also a waitress in austin named "sarah" that ppl have me confused with.

i wonder what would happen if all of us were put in a room together...

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2000

Yeardley Smith.

I used to get it all the time, even though people don't know her name- just her face ("You look just like that chick on "Herman's Head!"). There was even a student lab worker at UT who insisted on calling me Lisa Simpson. People passing me in the mall used to stop and point.

I hadn't heard it in a while, so I was looking at pics of her on the internet yesterday to see if the resemblance was still there, and my coworker walked into my cube and said, "Oh, is that you?"

I don't sound anything like her, though.

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2000

I get a lot of, "Did you go to [blank] high school?" I just have one of those faces that has a million dopplegangers.

I've had boyfriends say that I resemble Barbara Hershey (which I can see), Janeane Garafolo (which I can't see) and Marina Sirtis (around the eyes). I think I look a bit like Sally Field from the nose up. And just yesterday a co-worker took a look at my headshot and said, "You remind me of Ricki Lake in that picture." Um, ok. Whatever. (That picture is in the beginning of each of my journal entries. Or you can just go to my photos or my bioand see for yourself.

One of my ex-SO's had many mannerisms similar to John Goodman. Another looks like a cross between Daniel Stern and Geoffrey Rush (closer to Geoffrey).

That would be Mr. Pierce Brosnan, a.k.a. Remington Steele and James Bond. Without a doubt.

I've been told I look like Gillian Anderson. Not bad. Someday I'll dye my hair red and be Scully for Halloween.

When I pull my hair back away from my face, my boyfriend's family and the people I work with say I have a strong resemblance to Gretta Garbo. I dont' see it but I guess it must be a self esteem issue.

My best friend's mother thinks my headshot looks like Matt Dillon, making her my second best friend.

For awhile I kept getting Renee O'Conner. You know Xena's sidekick Gabrielle. Back when she had long hair at least. I personally don't see it except we both had long strawberry blonde hair and bangs.

I had a professor tell me I looked like Harry Hamlin when he was in Clash of the Titans.

After The Haircut and a few years left their mark on me, I've been told I look just like one of the probation officers in this county.

Doogie Howser. Heith, that cracked me up.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I once dated a guy who looked just like Paul Mercurio (the Aussie from "Strictly Ballroom" and "Exit to Eden"). Wish I had a scanned picture of him I could link to.

I've been told I looked like some guy on General Hospital (sorry, I don't know which, he's supposed to be evil.)

A better comparison was being told that I look a little like Ken Caminiti of the Houston Astros. Good thing I don't wear the Astros hat anymore.

Kiefer Sutherland..I get it all the time. I am not sure if that's good or bad, but no matter. I dig it. I usually ask them if that is good or bad, and people just kind of shrug, and say.."good, I guess." I even had to get rid of some guy one time that wanted an autograph for his daughter. I couldn't convince him, so I just signed my real name and made a quick exit before he could look real close at the signature. Hell, he probably thought 'Lee Schrader' looked just like 'Kiefer Sutherland' in my quick, messy rendition of it anyway.

Apparently I look like Henry Rollins... click here, for those of you who aren't familiar with him. What I don't get is... I'm nowhere near as built as him, nor do I have a square butt-chin... try telling my co-workers this, and all I get is "whatever... you know you look like him on purpose!" ARGHHHH. Maybe if I grow my hair out long, dye it pink, get contacts, and grow a beer-but people will get over it.

I've been informed that I bear a striking resemblence to Clara Bow, especially when I have surly hair. I know I got a few others but that is the one that always stuck out in my mind. At least I can take that as complimentary, even though I don't really see it.

unfortunately I look like Debbie Gibson in her blonde 1980's days. My ex-husband was the twin of John Elway (which is kind of a good thing) but together we just looked weird. All I need is the hat and a nice mall to sing in.

My ex told me I looked like Minnie Driver, 'back when she was cute, before she got too skinny.'. I didn't believe him until my boss told me that in the movie of her life, she'd cast Minnie Driver to play me, except 'we'd have to cut her off at the knees' (I'm only 5'5"). I still can't see it, but I'll take it as a compliment.

On a kind of related topic, how happy would you be if you were Erin Brocovitch and Julia Roberts was cast to play you?

I'd be pretty cheerful about that.

Whoo hoo...I can only guess that pretty much no one will be reading this reply, and yet, I still feel the need to post. Just because I'm feeling frisky.

I've been told that I looked like Natalie Portman and Fiona Apple had a baby. I've been told that I looked like Lara Flynn Boyle. But this was before I GAINED ALL THE WEIGHT. In a year or so, I'll check and see if they were right. Assuming I lose a significant amount of weight, that is.

Whenever I sing, someone says I look like Britney Spears. It doesn't matter whether it's a Britney song or not. Way too often it is, because the lyrics are easy peasy and we have pretty much the same vocal range, and everyone's always going, "C'mon, do 'Crazy'", and I give in because I'm such a sucker for attention. Despite the fact that I have short hair and no implants, I can occasionally see a vague resemblance when I make my Britney face (chin down, lips pouty and half-open, looking up through my lashes).

I'm really very sad. But gosh, you people all sound beautiful.
