How do you know if when you've found a true friend? What does true really mean?

Answers

When it's two a.m. and you're crying because your power went out and you're alone and afraid and you can call someone, that's a true friend. When they come over and sit with you for seven hours while you sob because your cat died, that's a real friend.

When you can sit for hours, just being together, not needing to talk, that's a real friend. When you know that, without a doubt, you'd give your life for him or her, you're a true friend.

a true friend is when it is no longer a choice to be friends with them. you've crossed over into family. even when you want to strangle them, you're there for them. my truest friends are not necessarily the ones i have the most fun with, but they can't be removed from my life -- not by moving, marriage, death, having kids, changing jobs, the passing of time, nothing.

My boyfriend says that the mark of a true friend is someone who isn't afraid to call you at 7 in the morning on a Saturday to come help Rototill his lawn.

Friends help friends move. Real friends help friends move bodies.

Anyway, your true friends are those that hold a piece of your heart, no matter how far away they are and no matter how much time passes between visits. It sounds sappy, but that's what I think.

And, I suspect I could count on one or two of 'em to help me hide bodies if necessary. ;)

the sign of a true friend is a guy who tells you the truth about the guy you are sprung on. the WHOLE truth, cause he thinks that keeping things from you is wrong... even thought the guy you are sprung on is his best friend.

well , they are peeps who will tell you in no uncertain terms that what you are doing bites. they dont mind giving you there last 4 dollars for a beer. they tolerate the 3am phone call of you wondering where they have been since 1am.they let you have their clothes.they lend you their siblings , they take you home when you are drunk , but most of all they let you sleep on their lounge(couch for the north americans among us)without even asking why........

i once considered some one who would visit me in the hospital a "real" friend. then i found out that there are freaks who like the drama of a hospital. so as of now it is some one i can call on to help with a car/transportation problem, even if i am out of the way and it is late/early. that's a very basic way to figure it out. then there are the people you cannot imagine you life with out. the ones who have seen you do it all and are still there for you. and they will not won't hold any of it against you
