I don't rant much, but when I do...what do YOU rant about?--Al

I rant about Wal-Mart and other like stores. I hate Wal-Mart with a passion. I have always called Wal-Mart the white trash mecca of the world, and if I'm not mistaken, you used the same phrase in a past journal entry. The class of people, in general, that go to Wal-Mart are inconsiderate, rude and downright nasty to another person (but not all of them are). I refuse to enter the store under any circumstances. Oops, I'm ranting in your forum. Sorry, Al. *wink*

I rant about injustice. I've been in on-line bloody battles about injustices against gays and lesbians, since so many of my good friends are gay or lesbian. I will be marching on Sunday in Washington, D.C., for equality for all people, regardless of sexual orientation. I rant about the stupidity of HMOs and how managed care is ruining perfectly good medical practices. I don't rant often. I try to save rants for really important things. You can make yourself crazy unless you parcel your rants out judiciously.

I rant about school administrators, trying to convince parents that there kids don't really need: (speech therapy, an aide, place special education service here), inner city schools that don't have art, gym, or playground equipment, our governer (in MI) trying to take early intervention out of our "free education" and the inequality that people deal with in general, ecspecially children.AJ

I'm not even going to go into the contents of my rant. Al, i just wanted to thank you... yours made me smile after a hellish long day.

I tend to rant about the stupidity of my generation. It's mostly self-loathing, I think.

I rant, probably more frequently and ignorantly than I should. It is usually connected to putrid politics and rotten political puzzles. Also cruelty of any form to any living thing - - - - - which includes psychological battering. The stupidity of war, which no one ever wins, there being a victor usually the one who has lost the least of everything. And on, and on, and on.

I rant about how commercialized and big business everything has become, how it has been destroying differences among regions of the US and making society boring and dull. I rant about pro-choice people, mostly because it is unimaginable to me how people can take that position. I rant about people who think guns and hunting are evil. I rant about how urban this country is becoming, and how distant people are becoming from nature and rural areas. I rant about people who would never make fun of someone because of their race or ethnicity, but seem to think its ok to make fun of conservative christians or poor white people or people who live in trailer parks. I rant about people who think because you're rich you should pay more taxes, even if you aren't getting more government services.

Well, your rant certainly reaffirms my own decision to live as an ex-patriot! Yes, I used to rant to the end of the world about the utter imbecility of American politics. Now it just doesn't seem worth the heightened blood pressure.Maybe I've settled too much into this new culture. Then again maybe not, as a tidbit on AdCritic so aptly puts.

Okay, I admit it. The US and its arrogent peddling of "freedom" bugs the shit out of me. Freedom to what, choose between Coke and Pepsi?

When I do rant, it is usually about parents who have forgotten what parenting means! It is not enough to just clothe and house your children....I just do not understand the attitude some parents seem to have about having children. To use the premise that having children should not require any significant change in your priorities and lifestyle is absolutely ludicrious.Oh my...better stop....

Al,The thing is, I don't do this - no comments, no reciprocal links, no email to the journalers. I'm in there and out - you know?
Not this time.
I'll not spend another however many words trying to say precisely what you just did, only this: that you reflected every thought I ever had about this Elian saga.
You, Michael Moore (in a letter of apology), and Dave Barry (in his column) are the only three 'reports' I've read about this little boy that in any way seems like the world has lost it's collective mind.
Be good.
