I'm very new to this, so this is probably a stupid question, but what is the difference between MPG and MPEG? Can either be used for vcds? I've changed the extension form MPG to MPEG and it didn't seem to create a problem, but I'm not sure that it will work for a vcd. Also, if the picture isn't as clear as I might like it, is there a way to change that with out rerecording the video? Thanks a lot for any help you might have.

mpeg=mpg When you transcode avi to mpeg and save it, your file will always name - mymovie.mpg I hope that's clear the air.

Panasonic Mpeg encoder has "filter" features which, in theory, makes your mpg sharper or change colors, etc. I haven't tried it, just letting you know that there is such a function. But I suggest you don't expect too much. If the original mpeg isn't great, there is a little chance you can make it better. Probably re-recording is a best option. Hope this helps.

So basically there one in the same, such as .mpeg is to .mpg as .jpeg is to .jpg, correct? And changing these extensions dont have any visual effect on the file?
