Countryside get together?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
Hey -I agreed with what Karen had to say on a different thread regarding how everyone on this forum respects each other's feelings. I have never been a part of something like this where everyone is so willing to help their fellow man (except for my church). There are so many wonderful people here and you could never put a price tag on the wealth of knowledge you can get. It would be so cool to have a "countryside get together", has anyone ever thought about it? - Kathy

It might be difficult -- people are spread all over the country, and most seem to have children and/or livestock to take care of!! Worth a try, though.

Maybe it could be done by regions? Or states? If someone were willing to sponsor, say a family picnic/game day at their place in each area on a specific date, then whomever could and wanted to come, could get together. Maybe have a swap of produce, equipment, books, etc at the same time? Jan

Is there someway we could do a virtual one online? I know there's always events being talked about...concerts, etc. I don't have a clue how it would work, but there have to be a few propeller-heads who could help put it together! If we had advance notice, we could assemble pictures and scan them in, etc.It sounds like a lot of work, and someone would have to coordinate it all (someone with time, for instance!!)but maybe that would work.
I of course would rather meet you all in person, but the logistics speak otherwise it would seem.

Ken Scharabok, a regular contributor to COUNTRYSIDE magazine, hosted at least a couple of these gatherings. We went to the first one, I think it was about 4 years ago. Wonder if he is planning any for this summer...? I'm sure he would be glad to discuss how it all went down. He's got an article in this newest issue of the mag, not sure if he offered contact info or not.
