What are the external changes required to make a model ACL F3 into an ACL F7? It appears that only a change to the grilles from chicken wire to Farr stainless steel is required. Comments?mw

Here's something that may help you. There was a two part magazine article, "Modeling the Atlantic Coast Line F's", by Jim Six, in the September & October 1995 issues of MODEL RAILROADING magazine. The first article covers F-3's, the second F-7's. Both articles contain color photos of both models and prototypes in the purple livery. Suggest you contact Paul Gibson, 11 Downingwood Drive, Franklin, Mass. 02038, who sells back issue railroad & model rail magazines. Send SASE and ask price of the issues and shippings costs. He's good to deal with.
