That was a nice enrty about grandma

That was a very nice story about your grandma. Best wishes and my condolences. The good news is I didn't bawl my eyes out like I did when your kitty passed. It is strange. I get more upset about pets passing away than when a human does. Is that weird or what?

Me too, Jason. Dunno why. I also am way more likely to give my $ to animal aid societies than charities for humans (unless they're focused on kids). The powerless, um, just need more help. That's how I see it, anyway.

what entry are y'all talking about?

pamie,

You have my deepest sympathies on the passing of your Gramma. Your entry today was a beautiful tribute to her. Sounds like your Gramma and my Nanny had a lot in common. (Mine was quite the character!) Maybe they're having cocktails in Heaven or wherever right now and talking about how their granddaughters never throw anything out either. You and I have a lot in common too, in that I think sometimes that I am turning into my Nanny, but that it wouldn't be such a bad thing. My mom swears I "channel" her sometimes -- whenever I make cheesecake using her recipe, I always crave Scotch, her drink of choice. And I don't even like Scotch!

Again, I am very sorry for your loss. I DID cry when reading your entry today, because there is no pain like the loss of your special Gramma, and it sounds like yours was pretty special.

Take care, dear pamie. You're in my thoughts.

pamie- your grandmother sounds like she was one helluva dame. i can see her in heaven playing pinocle with my grandpa. (i think he might cheat, so she's got to be on the lookout.)

sending good thoughts to you and your family.

Sorry Pamie.

No matter how old or sick someone was you always hate to hear news like this.

I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.

Sounds like your gramma is gonna be a busy woman up there in heaven. My grandma died about two years ago, and she kicked ass right until the end. We went back east to visit her one year, and we were walking down an alley that led directly to her house. Halfway there, a group of young kids ran up to my family & told us not to go down that alley because the "mean old lady" lives at the end. My dad just smiled and shook his head. Maybe are gramma's are arm wrestling up there right about now.....

Pamie - I'm very sorry for your loss. May you think of her everytime you see yourself expressing one of her mannerisms. She will always be with you.

I agree -- that was a wonderful entry, Pamie. And you have my sympathy, too. Your grandma sounds like she was very cool.

Pamie,

You have my deepest sympathies. Your grandmother sounds like a great lady who's probably taking care of the puppy contingent of Heaven.

I recently lost my grandma, who was the only grandparent I really knew. She had been ill for a long time before she passed away, so my parents and I knew her time was limited when we drove cross-country to visit her and my aunt last July. Three weeks later, after being in the hospital for ten days, she told my aunt that she was ready to go home to God. She died that night. My daddy's not a crying man, but he cried that night.

She was a strong, incredible lady, had been married five times (twice to the same man), and raised three kids practically by herself. Last July was the first time I had seen her in 21 years. I miss her.

Maybe my grandma is welcoming your grandma into heaven, since she always did have a heart big enough to love everyone under her ornery surface.

Take care, Pamie. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Pamie, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. That kind of loss always hurts and you have my sincere sympathy and condolences... but some of your grandmother clearly does live on in you.

What a great tribute. My condolences. Slovak women. I wish there was someone that interesting in my family that I could say I inherited traits from!

Pamie- So many of us go to your site religiously, not really ever knowing what to expect to read. Usually we receive a great belly laugh, a puzzled expression, and times like this, a story that makes us feel like you are just like us. I cried (and yes, the mascara ran!) when I read the entry about your Gramma. I cried for your loss, heaven's gain, and I cried because I have no stories about my Neenaw, who died when I was 2 years old, that were not recycled from some some kind relative or family friend's memories. Your Gramma sounds like the kind of person EVERYONE needs to have in their lives!

I'm sorry about your loss, Pamie.

Pamie,

I am so sorry to have read that such a wonderful-sounding woman as your grandmother is no longer in your life. I know just from reading your latest entry though, that she will always be a part of you. This was truly a wonderful tribute to her, and I thank you for that, for I feel I can take a part of it with and learn to celebrate the life my own Nana lived even as I grieve her loss. As always, a visit to your site has been more than I could have expected. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. My condolences.

My late grandmother used to show my friends her pacemaker scar and whine that "Now I have to give up topless dancing"!

There is indeed a special place in heaven for crazy grandmas, and I'm sure they're doing the conga or something equally festive to welcome yours, pamie.

I read the entry about your gramma. that's sad. I'd hate it if my grandma passed away [which I know is going to happen] since we're really close. I had a dream recently that she died and I started crying when I woke up. it wasn't what I wanted on my mind.

I take after my great grandma [my mom's mom's mom] everyone tells me. I like to hoard food and I'm neurotic like her. I panic easily. I'm also told i look like her and I do..it's nice.

well hopefully she's in heaven! I dunno what else to say since no one close to me ever died who I've remotely known but yes..sad.
