My life-changing event was at the University of New South Wales open day in 1992. Quite late in the year, my last year of high school, and there was me with no idea of what I was going to do with myself once school was over. My friends used to shit me to tears with the way they had their lives fully planned out for the next three years after school and I still had no idea. And then at the open day, I decided to have a look in at the theatre and film department to see what that was all about. That was pretty much a life-changing event, in that I came out of the office and demonstration knowing that this was what I wanted to do. Since then I've been able to put it to good use on the film program at the community radio station where I work, which I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be doing now had I not done film studies at university.

Almost exactly this time three years ago I was working in a job I hated, and I was in a relationship which was quite destructive and making me very unhappy. I decided to turn over a completely new leaf so I quit my job and left my (then) boyfriend. At the time, when I moved out from the apartment I shared with my ex, everyone thought I was crazy (or brave) but now I know I was right to trust my instincts. I got a new job (which I enjoyed) and a few months later, met the love of my life. I've never regretted what I did for a second - how could I ? Now I'm following my dreams and travelling around the world with the best companion I could ever hope to have.
