sorta along the lines of the "25 year itch" we had recently...have you noticed how OLD the famous people we adore (or used to adore) are getting?
i mean, the kids on "90210" are all like in their 40s (or maybe that's just dillon), but you know what i'm talking about... finding out that sean connery is just WAY too old to find sexy without getting that "i need to bathe feeling- oh, the grandpa smell."
hello *taptaptap* is this thing on? (am i alone in the dark again?)

A friend and I were discussing it. Every age group seems to have had it's hot men. You know, the guys everyone drools over. The big celebs. The ones every woman adored. But who is today's? I mean, I'm still in love with Harrison Ford and Pierce Brosnan; I don't care how old they are. But couldn't we have a big famous hottie a bit closer to my age? Please?

i think part of the problem is that most of the time the hotties (omigawd i actually typed "hotties") are acting a different age on-screen, so unless you're super-into E! or something similar, you've no idea who is age-appropriate.wes bently was kinda hot in "american beauty..." in a really stalker-dork-genuis way.

Weren't the 90210 kids always in their 40s? *lol*

I've been having a tough time swallowing the fact that all of the new up and coming stars (not even considered CHILD stars) were born on or after 1979.I was in grade 4 in 1979. I may have wiped their bums while being their babysitter (thank God I didnt grow up in LA).
Am I supposed to be 1) grown up now? and 2) why am I 10 years older than the new slew of oscar hopefulls?
Shelagh
P.S. to those referring to 90210 - I have a cute real life jason priestly story if anyone is interested....

Well, I was born in 1979, but hopefully that won't be held against me. I've had a crush on Tom Cruise since I was six, and I'm not afraid to admit it. However, in light of the fact that he has and always will the same age as my mother (less three years, but close), I've found I've had to look elsewhere for celebrity lovin' nearer my own age.Which is why I've turned to Jude Law and Joseph Fiennes. Maybe it's the accents, I dunno, but they make my toes curl. In a good way.

i'll take the jason priestly story... :)

Yeah I'd like to hear the Jason Priestly story, too. BTW, I was born in 1981 :-o and my celeb crush is on Harry Connick Jr, who's 32. I love Sean Connery's voice but never really found him particularly sexy. Liam Neeson almost is ... more like just real classy and attractive though. Jude Law, mmmm. Yes, I do love accents ;) Ethan Hawke's a cutie too.

I've been wondering the same thing, specicically about our generation of male action stars. When I was growing up in the 80s we had Mel Gibson and Harrison Ford to look up to. Plus Arnold and Sly. Bruce Willis was still on Moonlighting at that time but came around with Die Hard in the late 80s. Now who is there? Lots of folks point to Keaneu Reeves, but we all know he sucks. Leo Di Caprio? Please. At least Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are smart and cute, although definitely not action heros. Antonio Banderas was real sexy in Desperado but sort of fizzles aside from that. Mark Walberg seems to be doing ok for himself, but not great.

while washing dishes last night, i think i came up with the root of this 'not-playing-my-age-but-don't-i-look-hot' dilemna: ralph macchio. i'm serious. he was, like, THIRTY and playing a high school kid in the 'karate kid' movies. he started it all.i wonder what he's up to these days? does he still look 18? *giggle*

I love Harrison Ford. I adore the man. I guess I never really paid any attention to how old he is until he was People's "sexiest man alive" last year or the year before...he was 54 then. He could be my dad! I knew he was older, but c'mon.....I guess I didn't want to know.

Irene, in addition to Ralph Macchio, I feel I must mention a few other eternal teens, such as Matthew Broderick, Fred Savage, and Michael J. Fox. Although like the last season of The Wonder Years, Fred finally didn't still look like he was 12.

Just wanted to throw out another "eternally young" TV star -- Scott Baio. (Uh, I use the term "star" loosely although I do admit to a huge crush on him during the "Charles in Charge" phase of his career. Ooh, wait, I use the term "career" loosely too....)

I'll go along with the Scott Baio thing. When I realised how old he was last year I was gutted - in my eyes he'll always be around 22.
