Okay I know I'm going on a bout it but I feel like I've actually achieved something.
I have just included a web forum on my site www.thegallowgate.com it's not the forum that I wanted but it's free and requires no programming, please look at it and tell me if you like it. If it's popular I'll keep it up and not try and learn perl (why am I paying fro a chi then?). I'm not trying to compete with here but Iif I have a good enough forum I will get a lot of hits, hits=good sponsorship=cover my costs. Anyway, please have a look and let me know. Cheers BTW there should be a special dump entitled kegsy's web site:))) But I'm excited. Sorry.

Looks great, Kegsy! I'm just starting to find out how much work it takes to get a site up, being just a few weeks into something meself(very Toon related, and will be shouted about when it's ready to launch). Just think though, once you've got the initial layout done, the updates aren't nearly as painful..just plug n play so to speak :-)

And it probably won't hurt if you learn a bit of perl..at least enough to do cgi scripting if you want to do more advanced things on the page. Keep up the good work, Kegsy! :-)

I definitely think that it should be one step at a time. The script for the other board is all written it's just a case of fine tuning it, which I don't know how to! But I may get my webhost to have a look for me. Although he is next to useless. At first I thought I was being fleeced after paying my initial fee and the monthly rate but it does seem to be kosher. But, I would have been up and running a few weeks ago. I know what you mean about the initial set up. But I still have a long way to go on the Player profiles etc. BTW the chat is better than the MSN as you don't need to be a member and you can detatch it from the site so you can do the chat and here on match days with ease. The chat with the bulletin board isn't as good though:(

Thanks for all the words of encouragement with regards to the new site. Has anyone logged on using netscape? I've just had an email from a friend who said that he couldn't get on but that may be because the servers been down for some reason. Any netscapers had any problems?

I use Netscape and only had problems accessing the chat. Haven't tried it today, so it may have just been a temporary thing.

I've finally got the info from my web host, so I'm currently updating to a diiferent server. The forum which is on my site at the momet is really poor, very confusing and not recommended. Having said that my host is going to put the other forum on my site hopefully by the weekend. But his time scales are a bit different to yours and mine 24 hours =5 days and 6 hours = a day and a half. So he is consistent. Wait a bit, I'll let everyone know when the real forum is up and when I sort the email info out for everyone. I now have 100 email addresses at the gallowgate.com! But I'm trying to get more:) I'm also going to put a better chat on my site as I'm getting a free one but I'll post that on the other thread
