I'm currently in the process of of updating a syllabus for a class I teach on "Religious Cultism."

It seems to me that I remember hearing in the last two years that the World Wide Church of God "repented" of all its false doctrine and was seeking acceptance into mainline Evangelical Christianity.

Did I hear that wrong? If not, what is the latest? Is there somewhere I can go for an update??

I would appreciate any help.

No, you did not hear it wrong. They have pretty much accepted all orthodox biblical doctrine and thrown out all their wierd stuff. Except they still meet on Saturdays, but they don't make a legal thing of it. You can go to their website at http://www.wcg.org/ to learn more. The leaders all got convicted by the Spirit at the same time, apparently -- shortly after Armstrong's death. They paid a price for it however ... there are about 150 offshoots from them now, churches that refused to repent and broke away. They lost a lot of members but gained much more than they lost in the spiritual realm.

Also, I had downloaded some material back in Sept from a different site that was REAL uncomplimentary toward what was being called change at that time (the articles actually went back to 1997). That site is no longer active, so I'm still looking for any of the fellow's info on the web. The writer of that site was Rodney O. Lain who had apparently been disfellowshipped for his views. He quoted materials from a Ron Russell on that site, so you might try searches on both those men to try & find more.
