Does anyone know whether you can use Adaptec VCD Creator with MPEG 2 files to create a VCD that can be played on a DVD player??

Yes you can. I did it with the All-In-Wonder 128 to capture directly to MPEG2. I also used NERO burning software to put it on a CD-R. The highest video bitrate that I could use on the Pioneer 525 was 1802000 with a motion estimation setting of 16. The file was captured at 352x240. The picture looked very good displayed through a Sony front projector with a screen width of 75 inches.

Roughly what length of movie in MPEG2 format can you fit on a CD?

In SVCD mpeg2 its about 20Megs for every minute of video, depends on the settings and other options. A full frame DVD compliant mpeg2 can be as high as 70megs a minute and anywhere in between.

Julio,

I use Video CD Creator also. But I don't think it accepts MPEG2 files. Correct me if I am wrong. Does NERO create vcd layout? If so, which version?
