... or should I attempt to find a good camera case and batteries and charger somewhere else? Is the bag a good-quality one? overly large, too small, just rite? My Coolpix 800 is on the way, and I want to treat it well =)

I bought this package at a deep discount online. Egghead has it with free shipping for $72. The price of the bag, batteries, charger and filters was the same as the price of the filter set alone at the Nikon Outlet. I couldn't find 28 mm filters anywhere else and didn't want to use a stepup ring. The bag is not as good as a professional model but the price was right. It is a khaki bag with tan piping and bold Nikon logo on the front. Rather shouts "STEAL ME" to me. The size is about right for external flash, cameras and any lenses you may have. Also room for a battery charger and spares. The battery charger and batteries are from Energizer. The NiMH batteries are 1200 mAh and the charger can handle NiCad batteries as well (Does anybody still use these?) The charger also will take AAA and 9V batteries. Can never have too many batteries.

The only thing to buy it for is the filters, and you can get similar 28 mm filters, as well as a cheap 28->37 mm step-up ring so you can use other filters, from CKC power (http://www.ckcpower.com/ - the web site's a bit rough but the guy running it is solid).

The only other things in it are a camera bag (neatly labelled with a Japanese word whose english trnanslation is "steal me - I'm fenceable") and a mediocre wall-wart charger and a set of batteries.

Now, the patch *can* be easily cut off the camera bag, so if you want it and don't already have plenty of NiMH batteries and a better charger (e.g. Maha C-204F), it might be useful to you.

But really, people buy it because it's damn hard to find 28 mm filters.
