Can anyone advise what color the metal Pullman type steps for ACL and SAL passenger trains were? I've seen photos of early SCL trains and they appeared to be yellow, but what were they in the late 50's to mid 60's? I have several that I want to paint.

I had one of the cast aluminum step boxes with "Pullman" cast into the tread. It was yellow all the way down to the bare metal. I'm certain this was the original color.

I recall seeing them in silver and in Pullman green. The silver ones were usually used with lightweight equipment, while the darker ones were with the heavyweights. Of course, later in the 60's, anything went, until the late 60's when yellow became the color of choice.
