<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Responsibilities The Youth Minister provides spiritually based supervision and activities for the UCCC youth ministry, which is defined as pre-middle school through high school. These activities are to be balanced among Biblical, social, and service activities. The Youth Minister also will be responsible for providing leadership in planning, conducting, and reviewing all aspects of the youth ministry, as defined above.

Major responsibilities of the Youth Minister include coordinating with the Curriculum Committee and the Parent Advisory Committee in the selection of content and teachers, and in planning of Vacation Bible School (VBS); teach classes, and occasionally preach from the pulpit. Plan and conduct regular, local events, such as devotionals, Bible Camps, and special events; and organize participation in area/regional events such as youth rallies. Plan and conduct local and regional mission activities. Conduct visitations of the youth in the congregation, and visit the ill and the visitors, as appropriate.

The Youth Minister will be responsible for supervising the planning, implementation, and review of the one or more summer interns employed each year. The youth minister also will administer other child and youth programs as assigned by the Elders. The Youth Minister will work cooperatively with Elders, Deacons, Ministers, staff, members, and standing and ad hoc committees. Positive communication among parents, youth, Elders, Deacons, and other Ministers must be maintained. The Youth Minister must be willing to "pitch-in" and help in all major events and activities of the congregation as needed.

Qualifications

A degree from a four-year, accredited institution of higher education preferred. Have a strong Bible background, preferably including formal college-level coursework. Be a member in good standing of a congregation of a Church of Christ.

This reminds me of a church I once was a part of. This church had 10-12 ministers on staff at a given time. One of these was a friend of mine who stayed there only as long as he thought God wanted him too, then left to start a church in the same area.

He once described to me his first regular staff meeting. The meeting began with a call to order, then proceeded into business. My friend was a bit disturbed that they didn't begin with a prayer, but he blew it off at first. Time came for a decision that involved either compromising on quality or somehow acquiring resources (finances) not currently available. My friend suggested they pray about it, and return to making a decision at a later date. The senior minister, who chaired the meeting, snickered and said "like that would do any good".
