What was your first pet like?--Al

My first pet was Smokey, an ugly, but sweet stray cat who adopted my family. He was so gracious that we took him in that he let my sisters and I do anything we wanted to him, including dressing him up in dolly clothes and holding him like a baby. He was missing teeth and drooled when he purred but he loved us so very much. Sometimes, when my current cat Squeaky is purring and kneading my stomach, I see a little Smokey in him.

I like to believe that one day we'll all be reunited in heaven. I know, some people would think that's corny or even stupid, but it gives me peace of mind and makes me happy.

a small wire haired fox terrier, feisty as could be. she was my friend, my defender and i think she had as much fun as i did. as i grew older, so did she she grayed where once color was. she got a bit slower, one day she scratched at the door to get out and i let her out. she never came back, i hunted, asked questions, everything. no answers, no evidence - - - - just gone.

My first pet was a beautiful collie named, Penny. She put Lassie to shame, once when I was still in diapers and wandered out an open door the dog dragged me home by my diaper or so I have been told. She lived until I was 7 or 8, my family had her for a long time before I was born so she dies of old age. The pet I remember a little more was one my oldest brother brought home to surprise my brother and I. A dalmation we named Miss Fitz. She really became more my brother's pet, except after my mom's stroke and everybody sort of forgot about me, she was very protctive of me. My dad had her put to sleep when she developed cancer, I was about 14 or so. My dad had a few dogs after that, but none I was close to, I took them out when I ran, but other than that they were just dogs.
