I got a call today from the lady at Kodiak electric. Had I noticed that my February bill returned my deposit one year early? Well, yes, I had. She wanted to tell me that I actually owed $39.42, so would I send it in? Yes, but tell me, I asked, was this a y2k bug? Yes, she said, we thought we had the computer fixed and ready, but this sneaked through.

---so, how many other thousands of "glitches" are there out there? If you were set up to fight it for awhile, ie, be able to live off the grid, you shoulda said something like "sure, I'll send the money back when your company issues a press release admitting you were wrong about you y2k "readiness" status, and it gets published in the paper as a public service announcement. You misled people. Now, what other problems are you having, you have a state charter and are under various laws to do business, you need to tell the truth" something like that. Get the EXACT details, WHAT software EXACTLY is wrong, WHAT brand and type of computers are you using, WHO did the remediation and authorized the statement that you were "fixed' NAMES PLEASE. Something like that. If we all do this everytime there's a glitch, then maybe the media will be dragged kicking and screaming to start rteporting events and identifying that FACT that we ARE having thousands of y2k glitches. some are important, some are not, but it's the ACCUMULATED AND GROWING TOTAL that's the big story here, and that story needs to get out into the public consciousness. This ISN'T normal anymore, all the pollies can byte me, this number is bigger than normal, and growing.
