Text of report in English by Russian news agency ITAR-TASS Vladivostok, 7th February: Successive disconnections ofelectricity consumers have been resumed in Maritime Territory because of interruptions in the work of the Primorskaya thermalpower plant, the biggest in the Territory.
"Electricity generation was reduced almost by half during the past several days and went down to 555 MW. The average load ofthe power plant, fixed by the control office of Vostokenergo, is780 MW. Consequently, it has failed to maintain the needed level of electricity generation for three days in succession," a spokesman for the Dalenergo external relations department told TASS on Monday [7th February].
According to the information of the central control office, the reason for the inability of the Primorskaya thermal power plant to function smoothly is the low calorific value of the coal supplied to it, as well as the absence of oil. Even the transmission of electricity to Maritime Territory from the Vostok power grid cannot make up for the shortages. This is why the Dalenergo control office had to resume successive disconnections of consumers.
