Some Minox 8X11 cameras as well as others that use 8X11 film have identification codes at the edge of the film frame. These codes show up on processed film as a geometrical shape outside the normal frame. They are used to identify the camera model that took the shot. The codes I know about are:

Minox III-s (no edge code) Minox B (no edge code) Atoron (no edge code) Atoron Electro (left side, bottom) wedge Acmel MD (left side, center) triangle Minox C (right side, bottom) semicircle Minox BL (right side, top) semicircle Minox EC (top edge, right side) semicircle

I would like to hear from owners of LX, TLX, MX, ECX, and Fuji 007 as to what edge codes they see on their negatives.

Answers

First of all, since frame marking is a characteristic of the camera, not the film, we shall standardize on camera frame orientation:

Camera horizontal, upside up, lens out. Imagine you are looking at the frame( as if open up 35mm camera and look at the frame from the back ), left, right, up, down all refers to the 8x11 frame in camera

You can correlate the negative frame orientation with that of the camera. For example if you holding camera upright, then when holding a a negative, 8mm side perpendicular to ground, 11mm side parallel to ground.

Emulsion side faceing out ( like in camera, emulsion side away from you ), film base inside.

If the negative shows a house, a person, turn around the negatives such that the image is upside down ( the image in camera is upside down )

Thus defined a 8x11 frame orientation of this survey.

I have a very early Minox C with the Complan lens. It does not leave any identification marks on the negative. Is this a general thing for Complan C's, or could it be because the camera is early production? (according to Moses' list among the first 500).

My Minox LX seems to be middle left (when orienting the film according to Martin's instructions.)
