105-Year-Old Offered Space in Norway Kindergarten
OSLO (Reuters) - A 105-year-old woman was offered a place in a Norwegian kindergarten after a millennium bug knocked a century off her age.
``When our list showed she was born in '94 we just assumed it was 1994 rather than 1894,'' Olga Moerk, in charge of a project offering free day care to 5-year-olds in central Oslo, told Reuters Friday.
The glitch stemmed from a computer printout from the citizens' register giving only the last two years of the birth date.
A social worker visited the senior citizens' home where the woman lives after getting no reply to the offer.
``Most people jump at the offer. We thought the girl we were looking for might have been the daughter of an employee at the home,'' Moerk said.

Argh, in Norway they come to your house to get your kid if you turn down their "offer" of free day care?Dear Mrs. Lapp, We see that your child is now 5. Turn him over.
Your government.
Hard not to be with Paul Milne about the solution to all this.
