Anybody Else Having @home E-mail Trouble Since Rollover?greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
I have had a cable connection to the net for roughly 8-9 months now and they (Shaw Cable in my case) have been very reliable. However, since Jan 1 their e-mail has been growing worse every week. It is at the point now where it is going up and down more times than a hooker's drawers on a Saturday night. Today it has been up and down at least a dozen times and is now out again as I type this.Anyone else finding their e-mail going south on them?

howdy steveI'm next door in SK, my Shaw connection originates in AB (mailserver, newsserver, DNS, the works). Things have been rough today and when I called them Shaw tech support sez things are all mucked up in AB and we just have to wait. Net access was totaly down earlier today and mailserver was down even after DNS, web and news came up. I've been with Shaw for over 2 yrs now and this is the 3rd or 4th time that things are this bad, but this is the first big bad day since rollover.

Shaw Cable has a special on right now giving free hookup and are so busy that maybe the technical staff can't give it full attention. Would love to have home.com, but live in the country (AB) so have to stick with my little homegrown company.

SteveMy Email is down right now and seems to happen on a regular basis. I also have problems with my FTP connection or the availability of it at times. To bad they are the only cable game in town or I might go elsewhere but cable is fantastic for the download times. I have had up to 60 KB per sec. downloading the bigger threads on Greenspun.

-It is at the point now where it is going up and down more times than a hooker's drawers on a Saturday night. -ROFL!! Love the analogy! As far as the original question goes... Have not noticed any service degradation since rollover, but I am not using cable as you are.....

Steve: Ever since the roll-over ALL new e-mails to me are dated 12-31-69. When asked if they were working on a fix my ISP replied that this is a 'Netscape / World group mamager' problem and they knew of no fix in the works. Sounds to me like it's too imbedded to bother with. I can live with the problem or switch to another e-mail package. Regards, Joe
