When Windowing goes bad... an example 1/14/00greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
I thought I would try out the Altavista job seeker function, where you can place ads as an employer at no cost. I placed the example here on 1/12/2000, and they said it would take 2 days to post... Well, it posted today... look at the date :) If it wasn't for being a little pissed that my ad didn't work, I'd still be laughing...

If you haven't filled that position by now, I don't think you're going to Carl.:)

Guess they didn't understand html back in 1969 either... the link throws up when you click it... anyone here applied for this position 30 years ago and I didn't get back to you, sorry... I was a pimply faced teenager trying to loose my virginity back then, hope you understand :)

Further down on that same page there are year 2000 dates.

Sheri; If you look at those other job links, you'll see they go to jobs located on other services. which is how they built up their job and rsume base... the one I posted was posted directly to the Altavista site and was to be hosted on their page...
I saved the screens from my input pages as well as this posting in case someone wanted proof it was a for real glitch, which it is, as is my e-mail, and I do headhunt for IT people as part of my job...
I sent the webmaster an e-mail, pointing out the glitch... it'll be interesting to see what they say, if anything :)

Is this an example of a "Fred with issues"? By the way, how much does this position pay today?

Just; Not sure what you mean by a "Fred with issues"... personally, I find it annoying, but funny... I'm sure the outfit that contracted to launch the new jobs function on the Altavista portal isn't laughing toonmuch at the moment...
As to what it pays... if you're interested, and have AIX & Iris experience, plus some familiarity with a CAD/CAM environment, and might be interested, my e-mail is real...

sorry, "too much" not "toonmuch", tho some of the glitches I've been seeing are definately "toon" material :)
