Glad to see everyone here. Spent rollover outta town. Big-time news blackout, that's for sure! I'm running in 1996. Can't do 1972. I'm afraid to put the clock ahead for awhile. Am I being a doofus??? Can someone suggest a good alternate year?

Suggest downloading latest virus check software. Scan for viruses and then set clock ahead. Lets face-it Y2K is a joke! Ive been fooled into buying food, water, the whole nine yards It is not over but it is nowhere near as bad as J Lord or some of these other so-called specialist said it would be.

Mac's are in year 00 [everything works]. So are Win 98 and Unix. App's [that I've tried] all work.

Running in real time; no problems.

PowerMac 7200; MacOS 8.1, Communicator(4.5) for a browser. Had it up and running starting at 3:00 a.m. on 12/31/1999, and left it up until 2:00 a.m. 01/01/2000, on-line the entire time.

Not even a burp. Ran(and continues to run) like a top.

I'm still gonna hold onto my stash for at least a year, though!

Windows 95 version 2.1 - running real time - NO problems at all.

No problems in any of my software programs so far either. Checking them all, even the old DOS stuff.

I rolled all of my system clocks back to 999 to see what Y1K was like :-). Just kidding, I was on line from 4:00am pst 31 Dec 1999 until 2:00am pst 1 Jan 2000 and rolled over just fine. No problems with either ISP's during rollover, one in VA and one in CA. Web access did have some problems but no show stoppers. All three of my systems, 2 with win98 and 1 with win95 are currently working fine. MS IE works fine, Netscape works fine, and my least favorite (but wife and kid loves it) AOL works fine.

Charli, I have three computers with 3 different operating systems and will tell you what they did after the roll over. I did not touch the clocks prior to the CDC. The Windows 98 appears to have rolled over just fine and is running in real time. The Windows 95 rolled over to Jan4, 1980. The Windows 3.1 rolled over to Jan 4 1980. Charli, I am no expert on computers--just relaying what happened here. No flames please!!

Bill...Win95 has some patches for 2000 but no support for 3.1. My guess is that your BIOS and RTC clocks need to be reconfigured to 8 character date settings. If that can not be done you may need to download patches from your BIOS manufacturers. If your motherboard is over 3 to 4 years old you may be SOL with any type of support...

There is Microsoft support for Windows 3.1 (as well as 3.11). It consists of a new File Manager. Just logon to their support site.

Running everything in real time - had to install Netscape 4.7 as anything that had text on it would disappear as I scrolled down in IE 4.01 and 5.01... I only read this and other fora in Netscape as I got so sick of highlighting the text to be able to read it....but I like the graphics better in IE - bit sharper.
