Many of Pennsylvania's state-owned slot machines failed at local horse racing tracks. The state has admitted that the failures are due to the Y2K bug and are blaming a vendor who gave an erroneous Y2K compliance report. Local radio news broadcasts are warning those who plan to party at the tracks this evening will have to wait in line at the few machines which are operating. Nothing else seems amiss, but the party hasn't really started yet. Mike

There's a little more information in this post than meets the eye. If you exclude power and telecom, little else has been put to the test. An erroneous compliance report may be a big chapter over the next few months.
