Right. The Catawba "trip" is categorized in the same document as a "SCRAM". See the footer of the document, where they give the key to the matrix codes. The number "1" in the extreme righthand column alongside the "reactor trip for unknown reasons" indicates the event is categorized as a SCRAM.

This makes 2 HOT SCRAM in a 24 hour period. Plus 3 Y2K-related reactor glitches reported in Japan. And as I typ[e, were 35 minutes from rollover on UT or GMT.

I live in York County, South Carolina, home of the Catawba Station.

I called the Catawba Nuclear Station and spoke to someone who was not authorized to release information about the status of the plant. He referred me to a number for Duke Power in Charlotte, North Carolina. I spoke with someone in media relations there and they could only tell me that they tripped off line yesterday for reasons yet unknown and that the safety systems worked fine. They can only say that they will power up when it is safe to do so.
