Save my slow computer a lot of work if someone could post the actual URLs. Also can someone's computer handle "pinging" some of these sites? I'm copying down (y2k compliant pencil and paper) all the number addresses I can find. If I can get this old creaker up and running and the ISP from you-know-where accidently happens to be up, it would be nice to have a second way to try for sites if something has happened. Mousie

Electric Utilities and Year 2000
Weve established a worldwide network of folks in the energy
industry that will be providing EnergyLand.net with impact (or lack
thereof) real-time updates during the transition. These
updates will be provided via phone, fax, email, and smoke signal, if
necessary. The participants in this network are operators,
supervisors, and technicians sitting in the control rooms and field
locations of the world.

is only active on the Electric Industry Y2k Status.

CSAmerica's Rick Cowles be serving as an on-air Y2k analyst with
the MSNBC TV news network.

The Millennium Front Page

He's currently scheduled to be in MSNBC's studios from early morning
December 31 through January 1, and possibly a bit before and after
both of those dates as necessary. MSNBC is the only network
that will be providing around the clock Y2k issue coverage during
the transition

Australian Government

 Year 2000 National Coordination Centre

The Australian Government authorised the establishment of the Y2K National Coordination Centre (NCC) as the central point of contact for the passage of information between the Commonwealth, States, key Commonwealth agencies, relevant ministers and the crisis centres of certain national organisations representing areas such as electricity and telecommunications.

The NCC will be operational from 1800 hours on 31 December 1999 to 1800 hours on 7 January 2000. Initial operation will be 24 hours, however the readiness level will be reduced as circumstances permit.

The NCC is at the hub of a network of Government response centres established in every capital city in Australia. The centres will incorporate emergency coordination, policy advice and media elements. This will ensure a coordinated, whole of Government approach to managing the Y2K issue.

The functions of the National Coordination Centre will be to:

coordinate requests for and provision of assistance to State and Territory Governments under existing national emergency management arrangements;

collect, analyse and consolidate information to
provide a national picture for Government and for national and international audiences;

enable government policy responses where necessary;

provide information to selected Commonwealth Ministers, the States and key national organisations; and
provide public information via the media.
