Olympus supplies a 55mm UV filter in their accessory kit. Is there any reason to not use 46mm filters? The Olympus TeleConverter comes with a 43 to 46 step up ring. The 46mm is less awkward for every day use compared to the 55mm.

I'd think the 46mm should work fine, unless it vignettes at wide angle settings. I wouldn't expect it to do so, but you might want to try one out before spending the money. I'd guess that the 55mm is just because that's a size that Oly has in stock for their other cameras.
