live performance - musical in denver, colorado was a place called "elitch gardens" an amusement park, well planted, well kept and the rides were great, there was an open air building, no shoddy thing but masonry, nicely done, with a refreshment area at one side. the dance floor was great and the whole place was big, big. very often my buddies would go home but i would linger on, hanging alongside and listen to the great music of the big bands, they all played at elitches, sometimes i could get in and stand in front of the band stand. the music of the big bands was great, the singers fantastic. it is hard to describe the difference between the big bands compared to the local groups. each band had it's own distinctive sound, but theywere all good. in those days every one was out to have fun, entertainment and relaxation and there was no hassleing or fighting or rough stuff going on there. i lived for the music and the aura was one shimmering ascension into ecstasy. at the time i started to hang around the trocadero i was in my teens and experienced things at a deeper level than at a later age. pure heaven it was.

There is a musician by the name of David Wilcox. He is similar to James Taylor, only I enjoy him more. This is due to his thought- provoking lyrics and his way of connecting with the audience. My wife and I have seen him 4 times now, and anxiously await the fifth. If you would like to become more familiar with his music, I recommend his CD entitled; "Big Horizons"

As a side note, my 4 yr. old has her very first ballet recital, "the Little Mermaid", in March 2000. Given her fathers grace (or lack thereof), this proves to be a night to remember. I'll be the one in the front row, with tears in my eyes, cheering for the shy girl in silver and white.

The most enjoyable for me in the hedonistic sense was an outdoor 3- day event in 1970 at the Mosport Speedway near Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I was high literally the whole time. Saw some of the biggest acts in rock at the time. Another was at a small venue with Warren Zevon in Phila. Also theatre at numerous places down through the years, the last being at my baby daughter's last high school production. This, for obvious reasons, was the most poignant for me.

Music, most definitely; biased by the fact that I was IN the ones I enjoyed the most. I was in a brass quintet for a few years, playing small gigs all around the SF Bay Area, and those concerts are some of the finest memories I have. Also, playing in the UC Symphony and a few other groups, but the New Albion Brass Quintet was definitely it for me.
