I want my husband to not lose his job. His factory was recently bought out and they have been "laying off" people left and right. Al, i'm not that far from you, I live in Franklin, Ky. Just about 40 miles from you!

Living in the south we have little opportunity to actually see snow. I remember one Christmas Eve when I was about 4, my mother coming into the living room and saying "look outside"...the yard was blanketed in about 2 inches of snow which was still falling. I can honestly say there is nothing I need or want for Christmas this year, but it would be so nice to see snow in Mississippi.

I want to be out of pain. That's really all I want. I want my hip to magically be ok, to not be loose, to not be falling apart. I want my life back. Oh, and I want my friend Rose to NOT have leukemia after all. Other than that, I have everything I want. Sure, I'd love to see my daughter, but I know she loves me and will have a wonderful Christmas. I'll see her this summer, God willing. And no, Al, you haven't lost the joy and wonder of Christmas. It will always be tinged with sadness, but you WILL get it back. Just not this year. Maybe not even next year. My dad's been gone six years, and it was hard, but after a couple of years, I learned to be Christmass anyway, by simply going through the motions. Give it time, man, give it time! Thinking of you during your time of grief, still...

I think this is going to sound really insular etc...but what I really want is to be left alone. I love spending Christmas completely on my own - with no one else. To potter around having a lovely day. I just want to be left alone.

another thing to add to my want list: a continuance of angie's husband'sjob ! having been there and had that done to me (right at christmas time) several times, i know where angie's wish is coming from. we had tight belts those times, and they came while we were raising four kids.
