Heckuva time finding Hormel canned beef that I've heard others speak about. Checked a "Super" K-Mart as well as a "Big" K-Mart. All they had was Armour. There IS a Hormel canned beef, right?? Was about to stand there in K-Mart and call Hormel to ask, but the phone was in the car.

Also can't find the Sweet Sue canned whole chickens. Winn-Dixie no has. Kroger no has. I KNOW people have said they've found them there!

Any ideas where to find these in the SE?

I havn't seen either at WinnDixie lately, but then my WD is sorta like Costco..here today, gone tomorrow. I did find a brand called Morton House at Big Lots. They have sliced chicken and gravey, same with beef, turkey and pork. Bought a bunch of it and brought it home and tested on Chubby Hubby. It was REALLY good. Went back to get the rest of it and it was gone. They have had none since. The can says Morton House Brand, Bedford, Va. Maybe you could get an 800# and see where they sell in your area. If you find out anything, let us know. We tried Dinty Moore Chicken and Dumplings over white rice last night and it too was REALLY good. The rice just fleshed it out so that there was enuff for the two of us. I am going to get some more of that this week. I am assuming that there will be some, as other than at the bank, the herd has not started to move in my area of Florida. Fought the hoards in WalMart the other day. The grocery section was all but empty of people. They were all over in toys, clothes, houseware,etc.

Was at a super Kmart yesterday. They had at least 48 cans of Hormels Roast Beef priced at $1.99 each. In our store it is in the canned meat section.

You can find Sweet Sue whole canned chickens in the institutional size can section at Walmarts. They also have Hormel 1 1/2 lb. canned hams in the canned meat section. You can also find different canned meats at your local Dollar General store, they had Danish 1 lb. canned hams for $2.00 this week. Hope that you can find these in your area.

The canned roast beef is very good, armour or hormel. The can looks likes a big tuna can. If the word gravy is first on the label, then it is mostly gravy. example: Gravy and sliced turkey. Get cans that say the meat first if you can find them.

Besides running around the local KMarts and Walmarts...have you tried Pleasant Hill Grain website...they are selling Canned Meat, Chicken etc. made and canned by the Ammish. I do not know about price differences but they are selling them in small quantity cans and not the "you need to feed 28 per can" size. http://www.pleasanthillgrain.com Check out the website...they ship out in less than 72 hours too!
