Overview of public artgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Public Art : One Thread |
I am doing an exhibition project for my senior project. I have decided to do it on public art and how it effects communities. If anyone knows of any really good books about this topic or research materials that i can use, please notify me whenever.. Thank you!! Shannon

The best I have found is "Going Public: A field guide to developments in art in public places." It is published by the Arts Extension Service in conjunction with the NEA Visual Arts Program. Have you found anything of great interest, particularly as it applies to universities?

I realize this is late in coming but perhaps it will be of use to others. I have come across two very interesting books to say the least. The readings are smooth, lively and very informative. The first, MAPPING THE TERRAIN--NEW GENRE PUBLIC ART, by Suzanne Lacy, is a great reference book to contemporary artists exploring many different themes in the public-art format; and the second, THE LURE OF THE LOCAL, by Lucy Lippard is just pure intellectual and inspirational writing. Enjoy reading!
