What's your favorite wine grape? Or, if you want to be specific, what's your favorite wine? Are there any varietals you don't like? And of course, why or why not? :-)

I used to only drink Merlot, but lately I prefer Pinot Noir. I also like Petite Sirah ... although since I know absolutely nothing about wine, that might just be another grape hiding behind a different name.I do not, as a rule, drink white wine, and I don't particularly like Cabernet Savignon, which I know makes me a weirdo among red wine drinkers. If I'm going to drink a cabernet, it had better be a good one.

I've been told I have no taste whatever in wine; these days I like a fruity white Zinfandel. In general I favor whites lately, but for no good reason.

Oh, I can't decide.. (which is why I didn't post a response right away.) I do like both whites and reds. Bordeaux is nice... although I like which ever bank (left? right?) usually puts more merlot than Cab into the blend. Straight Cab doesn't do a lot for me unless I've got a very hearty meal to go with it. Whites... I'm not too crazy about Chardonnay. I find it... boring. I like to try the less popular grapes. I tried a Greek wine once it was called something like ritsina (I'm sure that's not the correct spelling.) It was awful. Tasted like pine.
