Went to Central Market in Poulsbo yesterday. As usual, they had about a dozen pallets of food by the front door, 3 or 4 of those were freeze-dried food in #10 cans. Lots of case-lot specials scattered around the store.

They also had a stack of maybe a thousand cases of MREs at $48 bucks, as good a price as you'll find anywhere. The folks at Central Market GI big time. The family owns several stores, but the staff at Central Market seems to be in the lead. These stacks have been steadily growing, and I see the stuff going out the door, so I presume they are ramping up as they see demand rising.

If you're on the peninsula, this is a good place to stop, and then hit Swain's for everything else on your list.

Nobody paid me to say this, and I don't work at either place.

Aren't you the one that was complaining last week that there is no one in Poulsbo that gets it?? Sheesh! I wish there were a store in Florida that got it!!

No, Taz, I was responding last week, to a couple who'd moved to Poulsbo and was looking for GIs. Yeah, I think we're doing pretty well here in preparedness and general Y2k-GI-ness. It has a lot to do with lousy winters and power losses, and with earthquake danger. You can prep for Y2k here, tell people it's for an earthquake, and they think you're not so dumb. Tell them it's for Y2k and you are just another fringe lunatic, or a tree hugger, or stuck in the 60's. Go figure.
