You might want to check out the Gary North posting of an e-mail from the Netherlands about a Y2K computer test that snarled Volkswagon parts distribution throughout Europe. As was mentioned, the problem isn't that they are testing...but that they are doing it in mid-November! (With a full month to assess, remediate, implement, and do a final test!)

Thanks Mad Monk - Those are exactly the kind of links I need to reaffirm my semi-doomer position.

1. A major German corporation is waiting until mid-November to do testing and it crashes there system, thereby, halting distribution of parts, thereby, losing sales, which eventually will hit the media and "corrupt" their stock price. I've seen these mini-verticle cascades before with a small number of other companies.

2. It happened in Germany which is supposed to be one of the more prepared countries on one of the more prepared continents.

3. Its another example of interconnectedness. If it was a criticle part instead of a taillight then a small businessman could have been out of business.
