Is there a song that's been stuck in your head lately? This morning I had the "Diffrent Strokes" theme in my head. What's up with that?Would you like to hum us a song? See if we can guess it?

I live in NY and it seems everyone has Yankee fever and there are all these horible songs about the world series floating around the worst being "How you doing" (Imagine Joey from Friends) basically the song is these two guys from Brooklyn saying how you doing over and over in different tones in between talking about losing their tickets and their undying love for the Yankees or some such nonsense, it really is terrible. I also alternate songs from Loretta Lynn's Greatest hits. Please don't laugh I have an addiction to the the movie Coal Miners daughter, I can't really explain it, but it drives everyone nuts I am especially fond of lines like "Heeey Lo ree tta... I love you more than my Irish setter" Well you get the point. Ok I know I'm sad we can move on now. Have I shared to much?

I cannot seem to get the song "Scar Tissue" by Red Hot Chilli Peppers out of my head! I don't even know all of the words to it! It just pops up and I find myself humming.

I can't understand what they are saying in Scar Tissue either. This is how I usually sing it.
"Scar tissue that I wish you saw,
Cause I've hassled with a know-it-all,
I close my eyes when I kiss you
cause with the birds and Cher
With the birds and Cher it's a lonely view....
Does anyone know the real words?

I'm going to feel like a real dork because I have to sit here and sound it outloud at my computer here at work, but here goes. Here's a hint, the band's name was 4-letters long and they were an 80's group. I'm wondering whether or not I should include the music. If no one can figure it out, maybe I'll repost it later on.
Hiiiiim Hoooooom Himmmmm..
(hiimmm hoooom him)
Hiiim Himm Hoooom...
(hiimmm hoooom him)
HIIIIIIM Hiiiim HIIIIIIM!
Him-hom HIIIIIIIM!!This is the main chorus of the song, but the more I look at it, the easier it is to figure out. I think. Yeah, this one is pretty easy.
-- Anonymous, October 26, 1999
"...Hiiiiim Hoooooom Himmmmm.. (hiimmm hoooom him) Hiiim Himm Hoooom... (hiimmm hoooom him) HIIIIIIM Hiiiim HIIIIIIM! Him-hom HIIIIIIIM!! ..." I got it! I got it!! It's "Take On Me" by A-ha! ::jumping in little happy circles:: Go me, go me... I'm humming Ben Folds Five, Song for the Dumped. I got the "it's not you it's me" e-mail today. Not even the phone call. Sigh.

Words to Scar Tissue:Scar Tissue that I wish you saw.
Sarcastic Mr. Know It All
Close your eyes and I'll kiss you cuz
With the birds I share
With the birds I share this lonely view. And--
With the birds I share this lonely view. And--
-- Anonymous, October 26, 1999
Forgot to mention that I really wished the lyrics were better. I think when I first heard it I thought he was saying "With the birds I share this love of you" which I thought was kind of pretty. A love from up high. But Anthony probably just meant he's lonely when he's high.

Pamie, I like your verse much better. I usually end up singing a little half-assed version of the song, mumbling the stuff I don't know, and practically shouting the parts I do.hmmmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-SCARLETT DRAWL!! or... hmmmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-PUSH-UP BRA!!
Come to think of it, I do that to a lot of songs. For instance, "It's the end of the world as we know it" by REM...I butcher that one.

Okay, I'll try a hum here for you guys...HHMMMM!
Hm-him-hm-hum-hummm-hummm
Him-him-him-hi-hum-hi-hum-hummm
Him-hum-him-hum-him-hum-himhum.
Hint: Woman singer. Has an initial in her name.

Someone once said they thought that particular line of "Scar Tissue" was "With the booger shed, it's a lonely view" and I've never been able to hear it as anything else since...
-- Anonymous, October 26, 1999
Okay, Pamie, I'm going to give it a try:is it "Damn, I wish I was Your Lover" by Sophie B. Hawkins?
-- Anonymous, October 26, 1999

Thanks for the lyrics, Pamie. I got the first line right, woo-hoo!
I can't guess any of these humming things. I am in front of my computer, going, hmmm...himm...hmmm..to try to hear it and everyone is staring at me. :-)
-- Anonymous, October 26, 1999
How in the heck are you guys doing this??? Every time I read the hmmmmm and hummmmmms and himmmmmms it all sounds like the same song...Whatever song it is it always comes out sounding like 'The Right Stuff' by New Kids on the Block!! ----Lyric stuck in my head right now---- "How does it feel like, to wake up in the sun. How does it feel like, to shine on everyone. How does it feel like, to let fovever be. How does it feel like, to spend a little lifetime sitting in the gutter.............Scream out sympathy."

Okay, I looked back at mine and now _I_ can't figure it out. Second clue: late 80s band, won a grammy for best album.
Good luck!O.

My roommate hums the theme from Sanford and Son very nearly constantly, but she hums it so quietly that it is barely audible. So I'll just suddenly, inexplicably be going around my house singing "Buh nuh BWEW nah, buh nuh BWEW nuh na na na..." And then I'll stop, confused. Why am I singing this? Why am I always singing this?
-- Anonymous, October 27, 1999
I don't want you to hum a song....I want you to put the crack pipe down.heh
I'm with Lisa on "Scar Tissue".....I know the last few words and boy do I accent them when I'm singing along.
Maybe I should stop.
Have you noticed that Anthony doesn't mind not using words......in the new single and in "soul to squeeze" I swear he's singing "dang a dong ding" or something like that.

<<"How you doing" (Imagine Joey from Friends)>> Oh jeez. My sister's boyfriend uses this as his "pick-up line" (don't worry, hes not cheating on her, if you met the guy you'd know).

I was being all amused and thinking to myself "Ha! I haven't had that happen in ages! It can really suck. Hah!" when the radio played that song. You know, thingmy. Whassit called? Simple Minds song from 'The Breakfast Club' and now it won't go away!
Dammit all.

Somebody has GOT to help me with the lyrics to that rap song "Nan." It is all "Girl you're no na...blah blah...brother like me...something...no, you're no nan."What's a Nan? It bothers me.
-- Anonymous, October 29, 1999
I've never been able to figure out the lyrics to "Blinded by the Light." Don't get me wrong..I don't like the song, but just hearing it every so often and not knowing the words is a little bothersome. It's that part that sounds like "and a little hurly burly gave my anus twirly whirly then asked me if I needed a ride." I keep thinking that CAN'T be the actual words, but then I hear the song and I'm not sure it isn't exactly what I've been hearing. If that's the case, I think it's WAY too much information. Does anyone know the actual words? Or do I have them right?
Whenever I iron my shirts I get the theme to the dating game in my head. I just have to whistle it. Then it morphs into "Operator" by the Grateful Dead. I think it's the chemical smell of the spray starch that does it.
I sometimes get the theme to the Facts of Life stuck in my head when I'm driving to work. I think it's that part that goes "when the world never seems to be living up to your dreams/you finally have found it out, the facts of life are all about you...." For real, people. I'm not making this up.
Of course, any Carpenters song, the hokier the better, gets jammed into my head and stays. Having typed that, I know I'm screwed for the day. At least until I have to iron my shirts.
