When was the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad constructed from Montgomery, Alabama to Dothan, Alabama?

According to a history book I have the first train pulled by a locomotive name R. E. Lee traveled between Ozark and Dothan on July 22, 1889. Although I am a Central of Georgia fan I have other information concerning altercations between the Central and the Alabama Midland at both Troy and Ozark which occurred in 1889.

The line you are asking about was constructed by the Alabama Midland Railway, which ran between Montgomery, Alabama, and Bainbridge, GA. It was chartered October 24, 1887, and opened on October 24, 1890. I cannot tell you exactly when the Montgomery-Dothan segment was constructed. The Alabama Midland was part of the Plant System of Railways which was acquired and absorbed by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad on July 1, 1902.Hope this helps.
