I posted this on the other TB2000 board, but I'm getting a little concerned at not finding a place to rent, so please pardon the duplication if you read both boards.

My mother and I live on the Gulf Coast of Florida. We were originally intending to head for the eastern mountains of West Virginia before the end of the year. We've now figured we won't have enough money to get that far, and would like to try finding a rental in the north central part of Florida, away from big cities like Gainesville, Jacksonville and Ocala. So far no luck, in part because we own two large (albeit well-mannered) dogs.

If anyone on this board has any leads on a 2/1 or larger house for under $700, would you please let us know? We would be extremely grateful. It doesn't have to be glorious. Indoor plumbing would be nice, a roof without holes, but beyond that, we're open. Thanks! We got it more than a year ago, but putting aside extra money for a move has been extremely difficult.

Try surfing the web for newspapers in the area you are looking for. You'll find most papers are online now and so are their classifieds. Also you might select the area you want to live in and run a wanted classified yourself. We found our place by running a wanted ad.

CD...don't overlook the Ocala National Forest area east of Ocala about 20 miles. There are places to rent. You should be able to find a decent place with a fenced yard (maybe a mobil home) for about $400 or less. Its rural here and good water/weather. Here is the Ocala Star Banner newspaper URL so you can check the classified. But I suspect that if you were to spend even one day out in the forest you would easily find what you are looking for. This may not be true later in the year. Try the Lynne area, Eureka, Salt Springs, Ft. McCoy areas. Full of independent red necks that will welcome you but tolerate no crap when the SHTF from outsiders. So get moved as soon as you can. Also look up in the areas east of Hwy 301. Lots of tiny towns off the beaten path. There are a lot of empty homes around as people retire and then die and the kids up north don't know what to do with it. They often go on the market with all the stuff remaining in them including clothes. Hope this helps

I have a house trailer on a city lot in a small town (population 350, Big Water, Utah), located 20 miles west of Page, Arizona on US 89. Has a 200 gallon propane tank, detached wood frame garage on a concrete pad, septic tank system, friendly neighbors, located 2 miles from Lake Powell, in southern Utah's glorious desert/canyon country. There are only 4,000 residents of the county, which is about the size of Connecticut. It is for sale or rent ($40K to sale, $400/month to rent). Send me private email if you are interested. It does have city water, electricity, and phone service, if renting you are responsible for the bills.
