My past attempts at making this fly have not looked realistic like the bought ones. I have tried spreading a layer of silicon on a sheet of glass and pressed a hook into it and then placed another layer on top of this. I have then rubbed this flat with a finger covered in turps. Once set this has been trimmed to a silicon shape
