Transport Corporation of America Expects Computer Problems to Reduce Third Quarter Revenues and Earnings
MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Transport Corporation of America, Inc. (Nasdaq: TCAM - news) today announced that business disruption caused by computer database problems in the latter part of the third quarter limited the Company's opportunity to handle approximately 2,000 normally scheduled loads. The loss of around $1.7 million in revenue and pretax earnings represented by this business will cause the Company to fall short of analyst expectations for the third quarter of 1999.
``Database problems associated with the upgrading of our logistics software created intermittent losses of communications with our drivers and customers for several days during the third quarter,'' said Robert J. Meyers, president and chief operating officer. ``While the negative impact on our revenues and income was unfortunate, the disruption represents a one-time occurrence. We have seen a resumption of strong freight demand from our customers and look forward to a strong fourth quarter of 1999.''
