Resolving Arguments

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Shining Interactive : One Thread

Making up isn't easy, especially when you're stubborn like I am.

How do you resolve arguments? And please don't say sex -- that doesn't work. Women don't want to have sex until they've made up, but men *use* the sex to do the making up. The dichotomy dictates that some compromise method is used. What's yours?

Well, I am stubborn, but forgetful. I tend to forget arguments fairly soon after they happen. It makes for an easy relationship. Okay, so we re-hash things more than once, but my husband doesn't like to fight, so he just seems to let me win.

I'm still waiting on him to blow a fuse about something... 2 years of marriage and counting.. heh!

For the first time ever, I'm in a relationship where we actually talk things out. In the beginning, I threw things (not AT anybody. Just books, in my room, at a pre-designated throwing wall.) But I had to stop that because it really bothered him and made him think I was a lot angrier than I actually was. So now, he forces me to speak up and tell him what's on my mind, and I'm learning to listen to what he has to say. It has its moments, but on the whole, I think we do rather well together.

Domestic ones? I wait them out. We rarely go to bed mad, and only a few lasted more than a day or so. We're pretty lucky that way. Other arguments? Depends who I'm arguing with. I'm usually pretty easy-going, but it tends to store up, and eventually I explode...very messy.--Al
